Job Description

Under the umbrella of Spanish automotive supplier Gestamp, Edscha services virtually every automaker with its products and know-how from 23 world locations with some 6,300 employees.
We are looking for a seasoned Health and Safety Engineer to ensure compliance with Federal, State, Local, and Internal regulations and provides guidance to associates in regards to International Standards (ISO-14001, 45001).
Responsibilities:
- Develop & provide EHS related training
- Investigate EHS related accidents and near-misses, implement corrective actions, track corrective actions to closure
- Recommend processes and Safety features that will reduce employees’ exposure to chemical, physical and biological hazards
- Inspect facilities, machinery and Safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards
- Maintain current knowledge of regulatory change affecting the EHS discipline
- Maintain records in accordance with internal and external requirements, including but not limited to OSHA and Internal metrics
- Assist in development of EHS policies and procedures
- Assist in the management of worker’s compensation
- Manage the ISO 14001 & 45001 Programs to ensure compliance to the standards
- Conduct EHS audits, implement corrective actions, track corrective actions to closure
- Conduct Job Hazard Analysis’
- Responsible for First Responder Program
- Lead the implementation of site wide EHS initiatives
- Responsible for approving new chemicals and maintaining Safety Data Sheet Database
- Coordinate emergency drills
- Be an agent of change and promote a strong safety culture
- Assist in monitoring the activities of on-site vendors/contractors to ensure compliance
- Complies, generates and file annual regulatory reporting as assigned
- Leading safety and health related projects as assigned
- Manage the contractor safety program and ensure contractor training is provided
- Support Leadership in completion of 8D’s, accident investigations, and implementation of Controls to reduce Risk.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience in similar position.
- Ability to respond in emergency situations calmly with authority
- Must be able to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal and presentation communication skills.
- Independent decision-making skills
- Ability to be effective and diplomatic in working with people across all organizational levels
- Technical writing skills preferred.
