FGS is seeking a Head of Marketing and Business Development, North America to be based in our New York office.

Role overview:

To help develop and execute the firm’s Marketing and Business Development strategy for North America in support of the firm's overall objectives and commercial needs. This will include driving further recognition of the FGS Global brand, supporting Business Development and relationship development programs for North America and relevant global initiatives.

The role is extremely hands on and will report to the Global Head of Marketing (based in London) and Chief Growth Officer (based in New York). We are seeking a functional leader who can help set and drive the strategy while also be responsible for execution and be focused on the details to ensure success. This is not a senior executive role but is an opportunity to lead and build this function and its impact, with regular engagement with colleagues at all levels.

Responsibilities:

General

  • Build strong relationships with practice partners and leaders to provide guidance and support for Business Development and marketing efforts.

  • Be a trusted, credible and reliable resource for both strategy and execution around all regional and practice-driven Business Development and marketing initiatives.

  • Ensure that regional Business Development and marketing strategies are aligned with global strategies.

  • Consistently and clearly communicate to practice partners and leaders regarding Business Development and marketing efforts to ensure they are up to date on and playing their role in lead campaigns, thought leadership activities, events and client alerts.

Regional Marketing

  • Lead regional Marketing and Business Development efforts, aligned with the global marketing team and Business Development steering group.

  • Act as a centralized resource for marketing activities, working with practice groups and N.A. office heads on their Marketing and Business Development plans.

  • Develop and execute region-specific targeted outreach to ensure efficient spend and return on investment, regularly reporting on key performance indicators.

  • Serve as the point of contact for regional web development queries (to be executed by the website development team)

  • Oversee our CRM transition in North America in conjunction with the technology team, helping to devise a process for database management, as required.

  • Manage budget oversight and tracking for North America in collaboration with the Head of Global Marketing

Business Development

  • Work with regional leadership and practice group leaders to ensure that Partners and others have the materials needed to pitch and win new business.

  • Oversee core materials development and accessibility.

    • Ensure a process exists for core NA credentials updates or regular updates led by practice groups.

    • Provide for quality control, consistency of global brand messaging/tone and ease of access once finalized.

  • Implement strategies to:

    • Leverage our extensive network of client and referral contacts for new business and Business expansion opportunities.

    • Leverage email communication for new business generation.

    • Maximize our website content and journeys for new business generation.

    • Leverage our alumni network for new business generation.

    • Use social media (paid and organic) for new business generation.

  • Support target identification and outreach to new business contacts:

    • Provide data on potential leads based on prior known engagement with marketing events and content.

    • Collaborate with relevant team members to devise outreach specific to our priority targets in North America.

Brand Positioning

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and NA leadership to develop positioning and messaging for target personas.

  • Advise practice groups on the most impactful outreach strategies to drive issue-based multi-channel campaigns, including key activities and budgets that drive demand and measure impact.

  • Advise on worthwhile awards for the business to pursue and standards for quality submissions.

  • Plan the “launches” of new products, offerings or service extensions.

  • Supporting identification and planning of worthwhile events (internal and external) in coordination with practice groups and local offices.

  • Oversee brand building and visibility exercises.

    • Recommend creative ideas based on observing what works for others and what does not.

    • Inventory available ‘real estate’, including email signatures, to make sure we are optimizing it to brand-build.

  • Have a clear understanding of our culture and develop content and campaigns to support talent acquisition and employer branding in conjunction with the social media committee and HR.

The Person:

Ideal candidates will have the following attributes:

  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves to pursue opportunities across practice groups, sectors, service areas (Creative, Digital, Research).

  • Good relationship building and stakeholder management skills, working with account personnel to understand their needs and act as a trusted adviser.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

  • A “how can I help” approach.

  • Naturally proactive.

  • Adaptability, resilience and a results-driven mindset with a focus on achieving measurable outcomes.

  • A self-starter who is comfortable operating without a clearly defined structure and is interested in helping to build this function and its impact.

Experience Required:

  • 10-15 years of Marketing experience.

  • Previous experience of developing and implementing strategic Business Development and marketing strategies within professional services industries.

  • A strong understanding of the strategic communications industry, including the competitive landscape, in order to assist in identifying and pursuing outreach opportunities for the firm.

  • Approachability, acting as an ambassador for the Marketing and Business Development teams in how they are perceived by their internal stakeholders, showcasing and championing the value the team can deliver.

  • Strong awareness of maintaining the professional reputation and premium brand positioning of the firm.

Candidates must have US work authorization and not require work visa sponsorship now or in the future.

New York City Salary Range

$150,000—$250,000 USD
