As the Investments Business Finance Officer (BFO), you will join Global Atlantic's Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team in New York, providing dedicated finance support to our Investment Office. The person in this role will understand the entire Investments value-chain, including asset origination, operations and accounting, and will advocate for the Finance-related needs of the Investments office. The Investments BFO will foster close collaboration with other areas of the organization and will ensure the financial implications of business decisions on Investment metrics are well understood and communicated.
Key areas of focus for this role include:
Deliver Management Reporting
- Deliver timely, intuitive and actionable management reporting, including comparison of actuals to expected results
- Produce metrics and leading KPIs to explain earnings, expenses and capital usage
- Develop analyses that link business actions, such as portfolio re-allocations, to financial results
- Liaise with Investment Accounting and Accounting Policy to gain deep understanding of expected accounting treatment, particularly for complex asset classes
Provide Strategic Support
- Support strategic decision making through provision of financial models and what-if scenario analysis
- Provide thought leadership as new capabilities are developed, such as enhancements to investment projections
- Help evaluate the financial implications of asset sales or restructurings
- Support the preparation of ad-hoc and recurring executive communications around financial performance of the business
Drive Operational Efficiencies
- Identify opportunities for efficiencies and drive execution of process improvements to accelerate the financial close and provide valuable intra-quarter analyses
- Support cross-functional initiatives to provide investment data at appropriate level of granularity, using a replicable, automated and controlled environment
Qualifications:
- Very strong communication skills, with demonstrated ability to explain complex topics in a concise and easy-to-understand manner
- Proven ability to build trusted cross-functional relationships
- Insurance company accounting experience, including US GAAP and US and Bermuda statutory regimes and accounting for complex instruments
- Deep quantitative and financial modeling capabilities
- Ability to prioritize and work under pressure
- Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or a related field
- Minimum 12+ years of experience. Experience in insurance, consulting, or investment banking is preferred.
