About this role:Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) delivers a comprehensive suite of capital markets, banking, and financial products and services. A trusted partner to our clients, we provide corporate and transactional banking; commercial real estate lending and servicing; Investment Banking; equity; and fixed income solutions including sales, trading, and research capabilities to corporate, commercial real estate, government, and institutional clients across the globe.The Strategy and Innovation team is part of both the CIB COO organization and the firm’s overall Strategy, Digital and Innovation team. This positioning means the team is embedded within the business unit while also connected at the corporate level with the overall strategy and innovation efforts that span Wells Fargo. The team operates as an integral part of the business footprint across four units: Investment Banking (corporate banking, advisory and capital markets), Commercial Real Estate (lending and capital markets), Markets (equities and fixed income), and International (the non US business in EMEA and APAC). The Head of CIB Innovation will be responsible for spearheading the innovation efforts across CIB in partnership with a wide group of stakeholders in CIB and more broadly across WF. Innovation for the purposes of this role is being defined as technology that leverages emerging tools such as Generative AI, Asset Tokenization, and Big Data. The role will report to the Head of Strategy & Innovation and will be responsible for the following:
In this role, you will:
  • Generate ideas in partnership with the businesses that can harness the potential of these technologies for 1) productivity enhancements, 2) improved client offerings, 3) reduced risk/control issues, and 4) disruptive business model opportunities
  • Lead the Innovation Working Group which will govern the overall book of work, facilitate stakeholder engagement across Innovation SMEs and the businesses inside CIB, and oversee the advancement of priority projects to ensure they move ahead
  • Source competitor and industry analysis to ensure CIB remains current with market movement in this space; capture regulatory requirements and emerging themes to inform the book of work
  • Prioritize the Innovation book of work for CIB by running processes that assess the various use cases against an agreed set of criteria; work then to ensure each of these use cases is shared more broadly across CIB
  • Interface with all key Enterprise functions for the book of work; ensure dependencies are planned for (e.g., licenses, infrastructure requirements) and that blockers are removed
  • Serve as Executive Sponsor for official programs where appropriate
  • Leverage Human Centered Design process to develop ideas in a robust manner that will increase likelihood of adoption and success
  • Collaborate with the Change Team to integrate innovation projects into the investment process
  • Collaborate with Data Management to identify sources of data, leverage new data tooling, and ensure governance requirements are met
  • Maintain the ROI for all projects, tracking the revenue/savings, resource mix and cost profile of each program

Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of Strategy and Planning experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:
  • Understanding of Banking, Lending and Securities products at a level that facilitates idea generation
  • Experience in innovative technology and specifically in developing and implementing solutions that use these technologies (but not necessarily coding)
  • Understanding of current regulatory dynamics and experience in an area impacted by emerging regulations
  • Ability to lead a cross functional/multi disciplinary team towards clear outcomes
  • Experience with design thinking processes
  • Experience in the product management and development process
  • Experience working across a large institution and complex shareholder maps
  • Experience presenting complex ideas to business leaders
  • Ability to lead a small team but also produce work directly

Pay Range

$120,400.00 - $287,600.00
