Lexicon Pharmaceuticals is currently recruiting for an agile, initiative-taking Head of Corporate and Strategic Accounts. This role can be based in our Bridgewater, New Jersey location or alternatively, field based. This role reports into the Vice-President of US Value and Access.
The Head of Corporate and Strategic Accounts will provide expertise to support our Corporate and Strategic customer strategies. Critical components of the role will include leveraging executive and Strategic level long term relationships with key customers, provide critical insights of national healthcare trends, and lead the development of strategies and plans for key customers and health care authorities to maximize opportunities for current and future business. This role requires the individual to be forward thinking and innovative with the ability to develop strategic plans and execute against our strategy. The Head of Corporate and Strategic Accounts will lead the team of Account Directors to execute against our brand’s strategies, including contracting with Payers/PBMs, GPOs and IDNs. This individual will elevate the account management skill sets to ensure optimal account penetration and management.
Key Responsibilities include but will not be limited to:
- Leading our Corporate Account Directors (CADs) and Directors, Strategic Accounts (DSAs) to execute against our Payer/PBM, GPO, and IDN strategies
- Leading Contracting efforts with account director team to ensure profitable access
- Evaluating our Account Management team structure and capabilities, and building and leading a high performing team in support of our key business objectives. Developing on-going training initiatives to elevate the account management skill set of team
- Effectively collaborate across Lexicon to secure commitment and alignment within the Value and Access organization and with other functions within the company, such as Marketing, Medical, HEOR, Finance, Legal, Trade and Distribution, and Sales that are critical to the successful attainment of financial sales goals.
- Leveraging our value proposition to address key trends in the market place and competitive landscape. Understanding how Inflation Reduction Act impacts our strategies, messaging and engagement with our external stakeholders.
- Monitoring key changes and assuring compliance with all legislative requirements. Interacting with legal to ensure industry trends and changes are clearly assessed and the appropriate strategies / directives are in place.
- Ensuring long term customer segment needs and dynamics are identified for all customer segments within the Value and Access organization, including GPO's, National and Regional Payers, Fully integrated systems, Trade & Distribution, & Government.
- Influencing the development of business strategies related to Corporate and Strategic Accounts with Pricing & Contracting for all customer segments maximizing business opportunities and profitability. This includes negotiation of key contracts.
- Engagement in the development of customized marketing programs in support of Segment and Customer Plans; involve and integrate Product Management, Sales and customers in the design and development of programs.
- Anticipating, acquiring, and prioritizing the use of resources to effectively achieve our business goals and making strategic resource choices to achieve those business goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 15 years pharmaceutical leadership experience, including cross functional expertise across Market Access, Reimbursement, Pricing, Contracting, Marketing, Sales and/or HEOR.
- Demonstrated understanding of the overall healthcare landscape, including knowledge of our corporate customers; Payor / PBM organizations, GPO/IDN, Specialty, Trade & Distribution partners.
- Ability to utilize their knowledge and understanding of emerging trends within the marketplace to develop proactive strategies to address potential opportunities or adversities.
- Ability to anticipate and resolve complex problems or issues that adversely affect the success or attainment of business sales objectives. In addition, the ability to use an integrated approach to addressing customer needs to better understand how to deploy adequate resources to maximize ROI and future business opportunities.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills as well as strong presentation skills
- Ability and desire to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to directly lead a team and lead matrix partners through influence.
