Summary - Hardware Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Hardware Engineer that can contribute to the success of the engineering team. Travel is infrequent, but necessary. The successful candidate will lead the electrical and optical design for new projects, work with the customer to solve their problems, provide technical support to Operations, and work with others in Engineering to continually improve our products and our development process.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Selecting COTs components for new designs
- For displays: video boards, video conversion boards, power supplies, etc
- Creating engineering drawings, with ruggedization in mind, that define assigned products
- System Block Diagrams
- Cable specs
- Reliability
- Participate in formal phase gate reviews such as PDR, CDR, TRR and PRR
- Assemble computers, displays or tablets for testing
- Lead design verification testing for assigned projects
- Load BIOS and recommend any necessary changes
- Load Windows or Linux OS and install drivers
- Write qualification test procedures
- Find root cause of failures
- Define the optical stack for displays
Requirements:
- Knowledge of modern motherboard features and busses
- Understanding of computer, display and peripheral systems
- Use tools such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, spectrum analyzer, and other common lab tools
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge/experience of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the military electronics industry
- Ability to methodically find the root cause of problems
- Attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Experience with testing or problem solving of display, computing, and peripheral products per military design specifications strongly preferred
- Familiar with DoD standards, MIL specs, or other testing standards related to manufacturing of rugged products strongly preferred
- Preferred: Experience with films, adhesives, glass, and touch screens used in LCD assemblies
- Preferred: Schematic capture and board layout
Education and Experience:
- BS Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar
- At least 3-7 years relevant experience
