WHAT WE ARE SEEKING
The best candidates for this position will embody the values and beliefs at the heart of the VCP mission and vision.

They will also meet the following qualifications and possess these preferred skills:

• Bachelor’s degree

• Valid Teacher License (or interest in a licensure program)

• Competency in using technology in the classroom setting

• Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis

WHAT THIS ROLE WILL ACCOMPLISH

• Facilitate 3-4 advisory classes daily of approximately 20 students that focuses on college & Career Readiness, social & emotional learning, and direct connection and communication with advisees’ families.

• Demonstrate a desire for working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.

• Analyze college & Career Readiness curriculum to identify what thinking skills will be explicitly taught and practiced in each lesson.

• Differentiate for individual students based on their unique learning needs so all students are appropriately engaged and challenged. This includes differentiating instruction for honors credit within a heterogeneously grouped class.

• Present instructional content through a variety of instructional strategies (arts-infusion, Socratic seminar, Cooperative Learning and performance-based learning) and frequent integration of technology to reach all learners.

• Work collaboratively with parents/guardians, families, and other members of the community to involve them in academic activities and to support the success of a diverse student population and to bring in volunteers and additional resources.

• Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, conduct home visits, and promptly return phone calls and answer emails.

• Ability and willingness to work collaboratively; maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships.
