Grower Relations Viticulture Technician

JUSTIN Vineyards and Winery is seeking a motivated, self-starter with a passion for viticulture and the wine industry. TheGrower Relations Viticulture Technician will support the Grower Relations Manager in all job duties pertaining to growing and harvesting premium quality fruit for the JUSTIN portfolio of wines.
This position will be on-site in Paso Robles, CA.
Job Description

• Oversee all growing activities during key phenological stages and guarantees JUSTIN viticulture standards are met within contract parameters; converses with growers to mutually achieve our high-quality expectations
• Monitor and report grape phenology and vine health: records bud break, bloom, lag phase, veraison, harvest maturity dates, scout pests and diseases in all contracted vineyards. Maintain database of phenological data.
• Assist with annual crop forecasting including data analysis
• Conduct grape maturity sampling, processing and analysis for all internal and contracted acreage
• Assist with harvest scheduling and logistics (e.g., macro bin supply, winery communications, reporting harvest weights)
• Supervise and direct (3) seasonal vineyard interns to collect and input seasonal harvest data
• Manage data entry and mapping on winery software system.
• Maintain a professional and mutually beneficial working relationship between winery and growers.
• Assist in maintaining and developing annual records and reporting of yield and quality trends
• Provide technical support to the Director of Farming by performing data and sample collection
• Assist with certification and regulatory records, compliance, and reporting.
• Participate in field activities related to research and practical application of technology improvements in viticulture
• Participate in company cross-functional work pertaining to the wine industry

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Viticulture, Agricultural Business, Enology or a related field or 1-2 years of relevant experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and Adobe Acrobat is required
• Must be detail oriented, able to meet deadlines and prioritize projects effectively
• Should have strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and perform all tasks with integrity and professionalism
• Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently, cooperatively with coworkers and provide mentorship to interns
• When faced with a problem, identifies and resolves problems in a timely, proactive manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully and collaboratively
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions and challenging terrain
• Ability to work flexible, potentially long, hours during critical stages of the growing season

Pay Range: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour. Final compensation is dependent upon skills and experience.
