THE POSITION:
Los Angeles Family Housing (LAFH) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Grants Manager to join our talented, and creative team of fundraisers. The Development and Community Engagement (Devco) is a group of driven individuals focused on furthering the agency’s mission and values. Working closely with the Director of Grants and Grants Associate, the Grants Manager will generate private grant revenue from foundation and corporate donors while maintaining and increasing public contract revenue and support. As a collective, the Grants Team is responsible for raising a minimum of $4.5 million annually. Individuals interested in this position should be experienced in developing and submitting grant proposals and be well-versed in homelessness and issues surrounding the industry. Grant writing and project management are essential skills needed to succeed in this role.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Develop and write funding proposals, request letters, and grant reports, both independently and in collaboration with Director of Grants and Grants Associate. Assemble, acquire, and update support documents for grant proposals and reports. Submit proposals and reports in a timely manner to ensure deadlines are met.

- Perform prospect research to identify new funding sources, including public entities, private foundations, organizations, corporations and banks, and prepare prospecting summaries.
- Collaborate closely with Programs and other teams to align all proposals and reports with on-the-ground efforts, funding needs, and programmatic priorities for the agency.
- Work closely with Data and Quality Assurance and Finance Departments to ensure contract compliance and that grant submissions and reports accurately align with funder objectives and proposed outcomes.
- Develop and implement systems for proposal submission calendar, grant reporting calendar, and other internal systems as needed. Support day-to-day operations of Grants Department in collaboration with Director of Grants and Grants Associate.
- Lead project management for development and submission of public proposals, including the review of lengthy NOFOs, coordination of cross-departmental materials and appendices, and attention to detail in submission according to meticulous guidelines.
- Supervises Grants Associate (to be hired). In partnership with Director of Grants, provides supervision, feedback, and professional development support and helps manage workflow.
- Grow relationships with and make presentations to potential institutional supporters as needed.
- Occasionally participate in the development and implementation of agency events, communication materials, and donor correspondence as needed by DevCo colleagues.
WHAT YOU’RE SKILLED AT:
- Proven work experience as a trainer, training facilitator, and/or project manager managing multiple training events in a corporate setting
- Proven ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate)
- Familiarity with the methods and principles for designing programs to teach, train and instruct both groups and individuals, including the means of assessing the effects of training
- Familiar with working in a multicultural environment and accustomed to working with people from various backgrounds.
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, and communication skills; ability to communicate clearly
- Strong administrative and project management skills
- Should possess strong attention to detail and solid organizational skills, with pride in accuracy and quality of work; able to be highly collaborative within a solid team environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong decision-making skills
- Strong skills in database management and record keeping
- Proficient in Microsoft Programs (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and HMIS
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking and writing skills are strongly preferred
OTHER:
- Maintain and execute confidential information according to HIPAA standards
- Obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification
- Able to pass post offer Tuberculosis (TB) clearances
- Able to work a 9/80 work schedule
- Able to work a remote work schedule
WHAT YOU’VE ACCOMPLISHED:
- Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing, English, Liberal Arts, Social Work or a related field and a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in grant writing, fundraising, or partnership development, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of social services, issues of homelessness, and the population served by LAFH required.

Experience
