Raba Kistner is seeking a dependable Graduate Engineer - Geotechnical to join our team in Grand Prairie or Dallas, Texas. The Graduate Engineer’s primary responsibility will be to assist licensed professional engineers and project managers complete geotechnical engineering studies accurately in a timely manner within the specified budget. With moderate supervision the Graduate Engineer shall perform the following under the guidance of a project manager:


  • Coordinate soil investigation programs.
  • Assign laboratory tests.
  • Compile and analyze field data and laboratory test results.
  • Perform calculations necessary for completion of engineering reports.
  • Prepare draft geotechnical engineering reports.
  • Prepare cost estimates and proposals.
  • Perform soil and rock logging in the field in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepare accurate, detailed boring logs, including field classification of soil and rock samples, documentation of field testing, and other pertinent data.
  • Provide leadership to the drilling crew.
  • Assist with site reconnaissance and record observations.
  • Laying out and staking of borings.
  • Prepare boring logs in the computer.
  • Assist in the laboratory.
  • Prepare invoices.
  • Achieve an average billing level of not less than 85 percent.
  • Report to work on time as directed by the supervisor.
  • Follow all safety protocols and meet all quality control requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited school is required.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification is preferred or the ability to obtain within one year of date of employment.
  • Possess valid Texas driver’s license and meet firm’s auto insurability requirements.

Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work in teams at different levels within the organization. Advanced in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Must be self-motivated with good attendance record, be punctual, and be able to work independently.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, far vision, color vision, peripheral vision, focus vision, depth vision. Work environment includes potential exposure to movement of heavy equipment on construction or roadway sites; potential exposure to hazardous dangerous chemicals and solvents, noise, dust, fumes, grease and oils, radiant and electrical energy, and vibration; all of which would require employee to follow implement and follow proper safety procedures and utilize appropriate protective equipment.

May be required to drive a vehicle short and/or long distances to job sites. Position may require protracted or irregular hours. Flexibility to work irregular hours is necessary due to client needs. Able to travel to project sites and maneuver over rough and uneven terrain. Work responsibilities require out of town travel to Raba Kistner offices, client offices, and project locations.
