This opportunity is part of the Global Technology Infrastructure & Operations team (GTIO), where our mission is to deliver modern and relevant technology that supports the way McDonald’s works. We provide best-in-class foundational technology products and services including Global Networking, Cloud, End User Computing, and IT Service Management. It’s our goal to always provide an engaging, relevant, and simple experience for our customers.

The Google Cloud Architect role is part of the Cloud Infrastructure & Operations team in Global Technology Infrastructure & Operations. The role reports to the Cloud Business Office Director and is responsible for providing subject-matter expertise for current and future planning, technical architectures, models, and standards. This role will work closely with Cloud Platform Engineering teams (DevOps and Security), Cloud Operations, Enterprise Architecture, and Engineering teams to ensure a cohesive enterprise technology strategy and direction.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technology leader to help shape the transformation of infrastructure and operations products and services to the entire McDonalds environment.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

• Consult and provide expert guidance to internal stakeholders on building and migrating applications, overcoming technical deployment challenges, and optimizing the use of Google Cloud Platform.
• Offer hands-on support to Dev teams in addressing platform specific project requirements.
• Plan and design cloud-based applications, identifying opportunities for improvement in existing application architectures.
• Ensure the highest standards of security and compliance are followed in every Cloud architecture build.
• Design and implement web services in the cloud, including the setup of geographically redundant services.
• Assist in client and project engagements by documenting technical requirements for infrastructure, applications, integrations, databases, and network.
• Collaborate in an agile-based environment and provide good daily feedback on team stand-up call.
• Define new and/or continuously improve reference architectures

Basic Qualifications

• Must be fully vaccinated (i.e., at least 2 weeks after last dose) for COVID-19 and, if hired, present proof of vaccination by start date.
• Willingness and ability to live the McDonald’s values every day: Serve, Inclusion, Integrity, Community, and Family.
• Ability to think strategically and relate architectural decisions/recommendations to business needs.
• Deep understanding of cloud solution architecture in one or more major cloud service providers, with a strong focus on Google Cloud.
• In-depth experience with some or all these cloud concepts: Infrastructure as a Service, Serverless Architecture, Container Architecture, Platform as a Service, Storage, Infrastructure as Code, Identity and Access Management.
• Certified: Professional Google Cloud Architect, or willing to obtain in first year.

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive experience with private, hybrid, or public cloud technology.
• Strong expertise in GCP and other cloud implementations, encompassing architecture, design, and platform management.
• Proficiency in cloud-based serverless, storage, and developer tools technologies.
• Exceptional troubleshooting and communication skills, with a track record of managing multiple stakeholders.
• 5+ years of application development/architecture experience, with at least 3 years dedicated to GCP.
• Comfortable presenting complex, technical topics in an actionable manner to senior leadership.
• Experience with Agile methods, automation, and tools. Continuous Integration & Continuous Deployment tools and processes.

Experience

• 3+ years as an engineer or architect working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Bachelor’s degree or 6+ years relevant job experience and a master’s degree.
