Under the general supervision and direction of the Director of International Admission, the Global Pathways Admission Counselor assists in the recruitment and admission of international undergraduate and graduate students from around the world. The Global Pathways Admission Counselor is an advanced entry, non- supervisory role that is involved in every aspect of the admissions process. Located within the Admissions team at Pace University, this position will continue be a key liaison between Kaplan International (KI) and Pace University.
Position Duties
- Coordinates, processes, reviews, tracks, and reports of all applications submitted by the US-based Kaplan International team and other recruitment agencies/partners.
- Enters all applications and documentation into Slate.
- Reviews and evaluates international academic credentials.
- Updates student records in Slate, i.e. admission decisions, deposits, withdrawals, transfer credit evaluations, etc.
- Issues decision letters and sending decision emails.
- Serves as a Designated School Official (DSO), with primary responsibility to issue the Form I-20 for first year, transfer and graduate international students.
- Provides pre-arrival information to Kaplan International students who are eligible for Global Pathways and direct entry.
- Responds to all communications and queries in a timely manner.
- Maintains communication with prospective students, parents, and counselors regarding admission policies and student admission status.
- Reviews applications to assure consistent fulfillment of the prescribed service level agreement for both Global Pathway bound students and students who are recruited by Kaplan International/recruitment agencies and eligible for direct entry.
- Keeps abreast of any university wide changes that may affect KI students.
- Communicates effectively with both the US-based Kaplan International team and other recruitment staff members who work for Kaplan International around the world.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with university staff, US-based Kaplan International staff and Kaplan International recruitment staff worldwide.
- Assists the Undergraduate and Graduate staff with virtual and in person student meeting requests for all international student applicants.
- Serves as backup to review both initial and second reads for international, Undergraduate and Graduate files as needed.
- Coordinates with Undergraduate and Graduate team to remain updated on all application review updates.
- Collaborates with the Assistant Director to set up student sessions to assist with recruitment, conversion and retention throughout the recruitment cycle.
- Serves as primary counselor and coordinator for all Kaplan based accelerated admission events and informational interviews as requested.
- Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer-service skills.
- Ability to deliver on detail-oriented processes.
- Comfortable reporting to multiple supervisors.
- Target driven/results focused.
- Experience of using database systems (Banner/Slate) and strong MS package skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work successfully in a diverse environment.
- Strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills.
- Work with others of diverse races, cultures, religions, age, sexual orientation and abilities.
- Demonstrated competency in a second language (preferred).
Work Hours
Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM with additional hours as needed; some evenings and weekends. Must be able to travel.
