Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). One year of full-time professional experience in Admissions, or related student services field (two years of related student work experience may be considered) in a college or university setting. Proficiency with office software and communication systems, electronic messaging and internet applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Apps, etc.). Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver's License; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. (***Out-of-State Applicants, see "Special Notes").
Preferred Qualifications: 
 Experience recruiting students at high school visits and/or college fairs. Experience recruiting undergraduate students in urban markets. Experience in rendering decisions on undergraduate student admission applications. Experience working with diverse student groups. Experience with programs such as SLATE, PeopleSoft, Banner,etc.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Admissions Counselor will represent the University for the New York City Metropolitan Region. Working with senior leaders in Admissions, this position assists in developing and expanding recruitment initiatives to increase enrollment from NYC and support university-wide goals. This includes working with on campus student groups to assist in student recruitment and yield activities. The successful candidate will have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time management skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.
Duties:

  • Represent the University at college fairs, high school visits and other outreach programs.
  • Assist in coordinating with on-campus student groups to facilitate undergraduate student recruitment and yield initiatives. This includes participating in student volunteer training and deployment initiatives.
  • Conduct information sessions for students, parents, and school counselors, as well as yield initiatives/events both on and off campus.
  • Review and render decisions on admissions applications. Conduct follow up to increase application completion and yield rates from targeted schools and student groups.
  • Participate in open houses, admitted student receptions, counselor seminars, and on-line chats.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and department mission.

Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. For this position, we are unable to sponsor candidates for work visas.
In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,026 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
Evening and weekend work will be required at times.
***Out-of-State Applicants: Please note as a condition of employment and in order for this position to be tendered, the successful incumbent will be required to provide evidence of a valid license and driving abstract from the state issuing the license within five business days of a conditional offer and must obtain a NYS driver's license within 30 days of start date.
