Our Secondary Market team is looking for a VP Venture Coverage/Secondary Market Product Specialist. This is an opportunity to be part of the newly created private secondary initiative working closely with and reporting to the head of the team to build the business. The VC/Secondary Market Product Specialist will take a lead role working in the private market ecosystem. You will be a central point of contact for internal partners (IBD, CWM, Firmwide Strategy) and external investors engaging with the Secondary Market team. As companies stay private longer than any time in history this represents an opportunity to be part of the founding direct secondary team bringing solutions to the growing market.
Job Responsibilities:
Internal partner:
- You will work closely with existing coverage teams in GMD, IBD and CWM as a specialist bringing opportunities to these partners to drive revenue
- You will be comfortable taking a lead role in client conversations as internal partners leverage you to engage in Secondary Market opportunities
- As opportunities progress you will be the deal lead/point person for trades, lending opportunities as you partner with internal divisions
- As the team engages in more opportunities you will work closely with the COO of the private market secondary team to define and create trading efficiencies that can start to be leveraged by wider Goldman coverage teams
- You will be familiar with the dynamics of working within a large institution and will be a leader working with legal and compliance and conflicts to navigate the complex regulatory framework to protect the Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC brand.
External coverage:
- This job has an expectation that you are a business builder and are comfortable being proactive to generate new relationships for the firm in the VC community, with legacy brokers in the market and with executives/founders/CEOs of billion-dollar technology companies
- You will leverage existing relationships to find Secondary Market opportunities for the team
- As we navigate external partnerships and technologies you will engage with these platforms to bring deal opportunities to GS
- You will know about market level activity that can inform potential pricing
When appropriate you will be proactive in reaching out to CEOs/Founders to discuss private market secondary opportunities and the Goldman approach to this market.
