Job Description
What you will do for us:
As the Global Head of HR for a fast-paced and truly global organization, you will be a critical force behind our scale plans. You will be spearheading how we hold on to our powerful values as we grow and how we embed a people-first culture in the hybrid work context. HR Operations need to be systematized and ready to facilitate scale and finding, supporting and retaining the right talent will be pivotal to our ability to lift 1M women out of poverty. This is one of the most important roles in the organization.
Culture and Employee Engagement (30%)
- Ensure there is clear insight on employee engagement and culture through surveys and listening exercises.
- Work with the Exec team to define and drive the way culture and values are embodied in processes, structures and policies.
- Design and implement a comprehensive employee engagement program to ensure everyone is connected and aligned
- Partner with the CEO and lead on internal communications about strategy, people and culture to foster employee engagement
HR Operations (30%)
- Improve and systematize all global HR processes and policies
- Support a streamlined and accurate payroll process for all global team members (coordinate with SBS Uganda as well)
- Work with HR vendors and contractors on legal and finance on pricing, contracts and required documentation
- Serve as the point person for staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise
Talent Strategy and Recruitment (25%)
- Managing a streamlined recruitment process that finds and onboards the best talent possible for our roles within 3 months of the job being advertised
- Building out a talent management strategy that cuts across borders
- Develop and streamline Global HR practices to support scale and meet local legal requirements, including recruiting, performance management, and compensation.
- Design and execute an onboarding process that sets new joiners up for success and fully embodies our values
US Compliance and Policy Guidelines (15%)
- Ensure SBS is 100% compliant with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; manage and update employee handbook and interpret policy as questions arise.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in Human Resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Recommend policy updates and protocols as needed given changes to the work environment (e.g. pandemic response).
Qualifications
Must haves:
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience across a range of HR activities
- Demonstrated knowledge of US federal and state employment laws
- Strong recruitment and employee engagement experience (ideally in remote/ hybrid environments
- Clearly evidenced experience in building and systematizing HR operations
- A self-starter who will own the HR agenda, work independently to embed this agenda across a global organization and will partner successfully with the Exec Team and the various functional teams at SBS
Desirable
- Experience in managing global teams
- Experience coaching and influencing leaders and employees, including effectively delivering hard messages with compassion, clarity, and confidentiality
- Excellent organizational, time-management, follow-up, and administrative skills with attention to detail

Compensation:
This is a part-time position with an anticipated 20 hours per week and an estimated salary range of $32-$37 per hour depending on experience and location. We offer competitive benefits, including flexibility for remote work and paid time off, with an organization-wide holiday closure.
