The General Manager is responsible for the overall management of the dealership on a day-to-day basis in a professional manner that is consistent with McGee Automotive Family’s core philosophies, principles, and values.
The General Manager will be held accountable to:
- Achieve maximum results in sales volume, gross profit, customer satisfaction, and employee productivity by using motivational leadership and effective administration to create an environment of high productivity.
- Effectively assemble, motivate, train, mentor and provide leadership to a team of associates that embraces McGee’s mission and core values.
- Create a collaborative team-oriented culture that maximizes each individual’s potential.
- Ensure that all company policies, procedures, programs, and strategies are followed and executed effectively.
- Implement effectively all the duties, responsibilities, and requirements outlined in this job description.
- Set a professional standard that always reflects favorably on McGee.
- Maximize the revenue generation and profitability of the dealership.
- Reports any situation or condition that would jeopardize the safety, welfare, or integrity of the dealership, its customers, or employees to management.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employee Management:
- Maintains staffing levels commensurate with business requirements.
- Interviews and assesses every new hire candidate prior to extending offers of employment.
- Provides enthusiastic leadership to help shape all associates attitudes and engagement.
- Develops training programs (adheres to McGee’s training programs) to ensure all associates are properly trained and continually improving their skills.
- Promotes advancement and frequent feedback in the form of performance reviews.
- Ensures that employees are always conducting themselves in a professional manner and discipline staff when appropriate.
- Guarantees new hires complete paperwork and orientation prior to start date so computers and phones are active.
- Develops appropriate onboarding program for new hires that encourages active support during the early stages of employment.
- Ensures time clock system is strictly adhered to.
Process Management:
- Consistently teaches, supports, and inspects all McGee processes and guidelines, holding department managers accountable for proper execution of such processes.
- Takes an active role in the showroom / sales desk management (working at least 10% of the sales quotes) including working dedicated shifts at the sales desk.
- Establishes procedures for positive customer experiences and frequent publication of positive online reviews.
- Handles customer complaints in a timely and efficient fashion. Takes steps to ensure the casual factors of such complaints (people or process) are identified and corrected and/or counseled.
- Ensures dealership follows Federal, state, and local laws and regulations as well as applicable manufacturer requirements.
Profitability / Asset Management:
- Responsible for generating a return, i.e., Net Profit, at or above benchmark standards and consistent with forecast.
- Prepares annual sales and profits forecast with departmental managers and submits to VP of Operations for review
- Monitors and controls expenses
- Holds department managers accountable to performing at benchmark levels for: Revenue and gross profit levels
- Customer retention
- Market share
- Customer satisfaction index
- Works with CFO/Controller to ensure accurate, timely financial statements.
- Monitor’s supply and stocking of new and used vehicles to ensure sufficient stock is maintained for forecasted sales volume while ensuring proper turnover to avoid stale inventory.
- Ensures dealership meets McGee’s standards for inventory appearance, condition of showroom and display areas, and snow removal.
- Monitors contracts in transit, rebates, customer receivables, cash clearing schedules on a weekly basis. Assists controller with collection issues.
- Inspects processes for safeguarding all dealer plates, keys, titles, certificates of origin, and sales paperwork, including needs discovery sheets, customer information, and registry paperwork.
- General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures facilities are clean, properly maintained, and in good repair.
- Develops and maintains good working relationship with manufacturer personnel and lending institutions.
