Today, the property consists of two main parts: Seesaw’s Lodge and Johnny Seesaw’s Restaurant. Seesaw’s Lodge consists of three luxurious cabins and a seven-bedroom Lodge with mountain views and southern exposure, all recently rebuilt with modern comforts in an old-world Vermont setting. This rustic retreat has been carefully crafted, incorporating the inn’s rich history and unique character. Who We’re Looking For
Seesaw’s is looking for an experienced General Manager who is entrepreneurial, charismatic, and hands-on. We seek a hospitality leader who has the drive and capabilities to manage the execution of our current operations and to lead the development and implementation of future offerings. The GM will lead all aspects of hospitality operations on the Seesaw’s property, inclusive of lodging facilities, events and dining services. The GM will be an essential tone-setting leader, bringing convivial, generous, and dynamic hospitality to guests and a strong culture of can-do, team building, and ambition to the staff and operations. With an emphasis on casual dining, a bespoke lodging program, community engagement, and events, the GM position will require high emotional intelligence, quick thinking, creativity, problem solving, and a self-starting attitude. The GM will report directly to Seesaw’s ownership board, while the direct reports to the GM will be the heads of finance, facilities, lodging and restaurant (FOH and BOH).
Responsibilities
- Ensure the overall excellence of hospitality offerings across all customer touchpoints, including lodging, the restaurant, and online presence.
- Manage all aspects of guest relations, customer development, and community relations, in collaboration with hospitality team members.
- Lead the Seesaw’s team in day-to-day operations of the restaurant and lodging programs. This may include working alongside line staff during service periods and observing operations through immersion.
- Work with the Board to maximize revenue opportunities on the property while retaining top-quality service and the loyalty of Seesaw’s core customer base and staff.
- Develop key performance indicators and budget in collaboration with Board and track revenue center performance against those metrics.
- Provide weekly reports to Board.
- Work with the Board on ongoing brainstorming, evolution, and change implementation of the property’s revenue centers, facilities layout, user experience, online and social presence.
- Work alongside the Board to lead the strategic thinking, organizational design, and business planning processes of Seesaw’s hospitality operations.
- Develop and oversee Seesaw’s marketing and communications program, including community stakeholder engagements and representing the venue as a public face of the business.
- Contribute to the development of Seesaw’s storytelling and identity, related staff training materials and processes for all team members.
- Lead staff development and team-building processes across the property, including recruiting, hiring, and training.
- Partner with department managers to build a team culture that empowers staff through consistent, positive, growth-oriented performance evaluations as well as professional development.
- Oversee the team to ensure all relevant administrative processes and financial management and reporting matters are completed accurately and on-time
- Work with the Board to ensure that all licenses, risk management and regulatory requirements are in place, and up-to-date.
- Work with the Board and key team members to ensure that relevant human resource processes are completed in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Significant management experience in restaurant and/or hospitality businesses with direct roles managing restaurants, hospitality programs, and overseeing F&B operations teams.
- Strong preference for candidates with prior experience in lodging, hotel, or resort operations
- Proven track record in meeting top-line and bottom-line targets, growing revenue, and developing new revenue opportunities
- Passion for hospitality operations, great dining experiences, and rural Vermont culture
- Adept at communicating with a remote and on-site ownership team while working independently
- Strength in culture building, team development, facilitation, and individual coaching, with excellent emotional intelligence.
- Unwavering standards in delivering product, service, and a positive guest experience
- Able to project-manage and problem solve with attention to timeliness and meeting deadlines
- Available to work holidays and weekends if and as needed
- Strong technological literacy across all system relevant to F&B management (POS, reservation platforms, business applications, merchant processing, etc.)
- This position may require the ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform 8+ hours standing/walking in environments including kitchen, dining room, and outdoors.
Compensation & Benefits
This position will have a base salary in the range of $100,000-125,000 plus performance bonus and upside potential. Benefits will include the following:
