Job purpose
This position directs and coordinates overall plant operations. The General Manager ensures that objectives are achieved at the lowest cost, consistent with customer requirements and company policies.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assure a quality product is maintained; production schedules are established and met
- Assure all safety policies and procedures are followed and in compliance with government regulations
- Assure that human resources are optimized and maintain an environment that eliminates the need for a third party intervention
- Assure all company policies and procedures are implemented and followed
- Establish short and long-term operating financial objectives and set priorities for the quality and manufacturing functions. Meet cost reduction objectives.
- Provide leadership and direction to the production management and engineering teams.
- Coordinate with upper management and corporate team to assure company technical and strategic plans, goals and achievements are established, communicated and met. maintain the plant equipment, buildings, and grounds and recommend improvement in the plant layout, processes and equipment
- Coordinate with the engineering department in the development and design of new products in relation to efficient favorable financials against improved budgets.
- Review the plant operational expenses. Compare to plan and explain variances with corrective action plans.
- Maintain the quality and environmental management systems, continual improvement and certifications
- Maintain a positive relationship with customer base
- Aware of consequences to the customer, environment and the employee if procedures are not followed.
- Review new releases from all customers as they are sent by way of EDI, email or fax. Develop production schedules to support 100% on-time delivery of these releases
- Maintain 100% on-time delivery to all customers and maintain lean inventory levels as directed (production inventory turns)
- Provide the production team a daily priority list for cast machines, cells and heat treat
- Plan / manage the component inventory for current production / service parts
- Manage daily inventory accuracy and the performance to plan.
- Manage the delivery of tolled aluminum.
- Manage the delivery of empty dunnage for all product lines with assistance of shipping associate.
- Investigate incidents of non-conformance to the system to ensure that corrective action is taken.
- Establish and review manpower needs to determine continuous and optimum production output and maintain favorable financials against improved budgets.
- Travel / Car rentals
- Provide production information for the Corporate Buyer and assist in the planning of aluminum delivery.
- Establish monthly communications with employees to reduce and handle complaints, report manufacturing results and plans with supportive details and achieve desired results.
- Monitor performance of salaried personnel and perform annual reviews for each
- Head up monthly QOS meetings, input Materials and Tool Room information
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or related experience.
- Previous Management experience. Foundry experience a definite plus
- Must have at least 5 years’ experience in a Manufacturing setting and similar field.
- Must possess strong leadership skills.
- Must be able to effectively communicate.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
