We are looking for an individual to augment our Aviation Team. Implementing a large capital program at an airport is not business as usual and we work alongside airport owners providing advisory services on a myriad of disciplines related to capital development in an active airport environment. Our team is comprised of industry leaders, subject matter experts and skilled budget and finance specialists.
We are actively looking for a financial specialist at the Associate level. The primary function of this position will be to develop funding recommendations for construction projects, corresponding support costs, and operations. This work will also include compliance reviews on items submitted for approval to a quasi-governmental oversight committee, with an understanding of how the scope of work may impact the funding of the item. Items include, but are not limited to, large purchases, professional services proposals, construction awards and change orders for projects in our client's capital improvement program or operating and maintenance budget.

Job Location and Client
This position is primarily a work from home position that may require minimal on-site work in Central Florida to meet company and client needs.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performs technical financial analysis work, which may include budgeting, accounting, and financing skillsets.
  • Assists with developing funding scenarios for program and project level costs that may include various funding sources. This work may also include interpretation of cash-flow impacts on recommended scenarios.
  • Sets up capital program budgets by project, track expenditures as they occur through to close-out. These activities will include financial oversight of major capital projects implementation, reporting, compliance, funding verification, and budget release activities.
  • Tracks and monitors grant requirements and communicates potential impacts.
  • Assists in implementing grantor requirements for carrying out projects and providing the necessary accountability and transparency.
  • Establishes, maintains, and keeps secure electronic financial data.
  • Assists in oversight of project budget development, usage, and requirements of any associated grant funding components.
  • Analyzes, reconciles, and balances the budgets of various programs and projects and assists in maintaining electronic registers of transactions.
  • Assists in the preparation and completion of special financial reports as needed.
  • Assists with the development of budget methodologies and supporting workpapers utilized for formulation of the budget/funding process.
  • Develops familiarity with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grant regulations.
  • Reviews committee agenda items to ensure that appropriate funding is in place prior to committee action.
  • Coordinates with client and consultants related to establishing accurate funding for commitments to be procured.
  • Performs analysis and prepares schedules to assist management in effective decision-making.
  • Reviews submitted items for compliance with funding requirements, assist in creation of the funding eligibilities using established protocols and templates in place for these activities. Reviews include but are not limited to: -Review proposals to ensure that client's standard forms or equivalent are used and correctly completed. -Verify that supporting documentation is accurate and consistent for funding recommendation being made. -Review construction change orders including the scope of work, cost compliance, terms and conditions, allowable costs, plans and specifications, and any other source documents to support funding recommendation.
  • Maintains work papers (electronic and paper) to document the information received from the client, information reviewed, analysis completed, recommendations, and documents returned to the client.
  • Develops a strong working relationship with the client to facilitate communication and resolution of issues identified during the reviews.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may also be assigned.
Required Qualifications & Education
  • Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, accounting, grant administration, a combination of these fields or any related field.
  • Skills in PC based applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project etc., with proficiency in Excel preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines in a challenging environment.
  • Knowledgeable in ERP Systems and Databases.
  • Must be proactive and take initiative with respect to execution of responsibilities and duties.
  • Must be able to determine when additional follow up or analysis is needed and set priorities to achieve client objectives.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and projects and adjust work schedule to meet deadlines. Ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Must be able to communicate, interpret effectively and maintain positive working relationships with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Must be able to interpret data and apply logical processes to support funding recommendations. Ability to analyze and synthesize different facets of grants, funding, and projects.
  • Acuity to mathematical analyses and excellent reading comprehension skills required. Must have strong attention to detail.
  • Open to constructive criticism and collaborative teamwork.
  • Construction industry experience helpful.
  • Previous grant management and governance experience helpful.
