The Compliance, Conduct and Operational Risk (CCOR) teams work globally, across all lines of business. The Commercial Bank Operational Risk Management (ORM) team within CCOR, provides independent Operational Risk Management oversight of Commercial Bank.

Our team provides oversight of the firm's compliance, conduct and Operational Risk Management activities within Firm's Risk Management and Compliance Function. We are responsible for the design and execution of the CCOR program, which consists of the second line of defense's responsibilities in managing the firm's compliance, conduct, and Operational Risk. CCOR establishes policies and standards which set forth the requirements for the LOBs and Corporate Functions regarding the management of compliance, conduct, and Operational Risk and enables oversight and independent assessment over compliance, conduct and Operational Risks inherent within the firm's activities.

The Senior Associate role will be part of the team responsible for independent assessment and oversight of the execution of the CCOR activities for the Commercial Bank including, but not limited to the following: challenge of new business initiatives, oversight of the business self-assessments and execution of monitoring activities.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the execution of a complex Operational Risk program to manage Operational Risk exposure in a dynamic and evolving area of the firm
  • Exploring and gaining an understanding of the primary activities of the business, including key processes and risk controls
  • Assisting in the development and execution of oversight of the business, including monitoring and testing activities and challenge of business self-assessments of processes, risks and controls
  • Perform end-to-end review of products and services that will be offered to Commercial Bank clients to proactively identify and assess Operational Risks, challenge the proposed control environment, and recommend whether or not to approve the offering
  • Perform off-cycle reviews of areas of emerging risk or potential control gaps to identify issues for the business to remediation; document and share analysis with business stakeholders; document issues and action plans in the firm's system of record
  • Promote and instill a strong culture of Operational Risk Management, partner with the business and second-line functions to continually improve operational processes supporting safe business growth and informing and influencing risk-based decision making

Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in financial services industry is required; specific experience in Commercial Bank, Risk Management, Audit, Compliance, Oversight & Control, Technology Control or other related areas is a plus
  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree; a focus on in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related discipline is beneficial
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced, complex and evolving environment
  • Ability to collaborate and establish relationships across organizations and employee levels, including senior leaders, with the confidence to formulate, advocate and drive ideas forward
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and manage multiple tasks while exceling in a dynamic, demanding environment
  • Self starter and strongly motivated to achieve higher standards over time
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written and attention to detail required
  • Strong technical skills - including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, SharePoint
