Front Desk Receptionist/Scheduler

Legacy Bone and Joint Orthopedics is seeking a Front Desk Receptionist for a very busy orthopedic office. The successful candidate will greet incoming patients, directing them in person or by phone, in a courteous and professional manner, to the proper area; schedules appointments; collects co-payments and patient responsibility payments; maintains records and accounts.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Greets patients and visitors in person in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner.
• Checks in patients, verifies and updates demographic, insurance, and other necessary information in the computer record.
• Collects payments due at the time of service and past due balances for accounts.
• Observes waiting room and patient activity and notifies team of patient flow issues.
• Answers all incoming calls; schedules and re-schedules appointments as requested by patient, therapist and/or management.
• Verifies medical benefits for all evaluations; obtains authorization; monitors visit limitations as required by patients’ health care insurers or managed care providers.
• Informs patients of out-of-pocket costs prior to scheduled appointments.
• Notates patients account with benefit, copay, co-insurance and/or deductible information.
• Audits and adjust scheduled appointments on the electronic medical records system daily.
• Comply with federal HIPAA regulations and practice policies for the privacy and security of patient information; explain the law and our privacy policy to patients as needed; maintain appropriate documentation of access to medical records.

This position requires travel.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
