Job Description
Job Summary: The Front Desk Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients and visitors entering the Primary Care Physician office. The Receptionist is responsible for providing excellent customer service, answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, verifying patient insurance coverage, and performing general office duties. The Receptionist must be able to maintain a professional demeanor, multi-task, and prioritize duties in a fast-paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- Answer incoming phone calls, route calls to the appropriate staff member, and take messages as needed
- Schedule appointments and maintain appointment calendar
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility
- Collect co-payments and other fees as required
- Maintain patient files and records in an organized manner
- Coordinate with other staff members to ensure smooth patient flow
- Perform general office duties such as filing, photocopying, and faxing
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area
- Adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working in a medical office preferred
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties
- Proficiency with computer and basic office software (e.g. Microsoft Office)
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing procedures is a plus
