The City of Riverside is accepting applications for the position ofFRIENDLY STARS PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR to fill multiple vacanciesin the Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department. The eligibility list established may be used to fill the current and/or upcoming vacancies within this classification for up to six (6) months.
*Actual job classification is INSTRUCTOR.
- Organize and record participant registration into the program.
- Plan and conduct a variety of recreational activities and special events.
- Supervise staff to operate the full scope of the program.
- Work with volunteers to set up weekly and special event programs.
- Record attendance and encourage participation in program activities.
- Generate reports using computer programs (M/S Word, Excel, ActiveNet, etc.).
- Foster a wholesome atmosphere where participants are treated with respect and dignity.
- Handle emergency and non-emergency situations that may arise during program hours.
- Adhere to a flexible work schedule which may include evenings and weekends.
- High school graduation or satisfactory equivalent (GED).
Highly Desirable Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in creating extracurricular activities for adaptive learners
- Possess and maintain a valid CPR and First Aid certification
