Hiring for various positions: Assistant Program Manager, Camp Instructor, Assistant Camp Instructor, Camp Counselor/Youth Camp Counselor
Employment type: onsite only, part-time (potentially leading to full-time)
ALL POSITIONS MUST PASS A BACKGROUND CHECK & BE CPR/FIRST AID CERTIFIED PRIOR TO THE START OF SUMMER CAMP June 17th.
Our Mission
At Beyond Karate, we provide physical training beyond martial arts, facilitating programs like Karate, Diverse Camps, Workshops, and other activities geared towards families, teens and children, with the majority of our students having disabilities or special needs. Our goal is to support and empower growth, self-esteem and teach the tools required to live life with greater confidence and purpose. We meet each student where they are and create a plan for them that highlights their abilities and encourages them to level up for success!
- Job title: Assistant Program Manager
Compensation: $18-$30/hr based on experience
Approx. 20-40hrs/week
Our karate dojo, Beyond Karate, is rapidly growing and we are looking for an individual who can facilitate creative workshops for students and/or karate classes (depending on experience), along with helping with a variety of tasks. We are a small company and as a team, we each do a bit of multi-tasking, so flexibility is key! We are looking to bring in another person who can jump in with us to help this program continue to grow and meet the needs of families in our community!
Responsibilities:
Administrative Tasks/Scheduling
Overseeing and facilitating our workshops and seasonal camp programs
Helping new families onboard
Assisting Sensei with business needs/errands/phone calls
Candidate must have:
- Strong administrative, writing and organization skills.
- Experience working with children
- Ability/skill to, or willingness to be trained to, facilitate classes of students with special needs/disabilities, ages 7 and up
- Ability to lead and manage a team of Staff, Program Instructors, Assistants and ensure programs are run smoothly and deadlines are being met.
- Demonstrate full knowledge and capability of Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks.
- Professional and positive demeanor.
- Great communication skills with employees and families.
- Ability to multitask and handle complex situations appropriately.
- Self-motivation and be responsible for assigned tasks with an ability to communicate in a timely manner when issues arise, need assistance and/or unable to meet deadlines.
- Experience in martial arts a plus!
ALL OF THE FOLLOWING CAMP POSITIONS ARE TEMPORARY/SEASONAL WITH POSSIBILITY OF PERMANENT STATUS EMPLOYMENT.
Schedule:
* Morning Part-time (8:15am-1:30pm)
* Afternoon-Evening Part-time (1.30pm - 5.30pm)
* opportunities for a full-time Morning-Evening (maybe come in a little later or leave earlier)
Location:
* Santa Monica, CA: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before June 2024 (Required) Please consider traffic in and out of Santa Monica into your daily commute.
- Job title: Camp Instructor
Compensation: $20-$25/hr based on experience
* Lead scheduled activities, while creating a fun, positive and safe experience for all campers.
* Assign and Direct staff assistance and mentor youth leaders with all scheduled activities.
* Must have experience working with youth with disabilities.
* Ensure safety of campers, volunteers, and staff assistance.
* Demonstrate fun and active demeanor.
* Work well with different age groups of children, teens, and individuals of all ages with special needs.
* Maintain a professional attitude and great communication skills with employees, campers, and families.
* Ability to multitask and handle complex situations appropriately.
* Must have prior experience in camp or after school program
- Job title: Assistant Camp Instructor
Compensation: $17 - $20 based on experience
* Assist in scheduled activities, while creating a fun, positive and safe experience for all campers.
* Assist youth leaders with all scheduled activities.
* Ensure safety of campers and volunteers.
* Demonstrate fun and active demeanor.
* Work well with different age groups of children, teens, and individuals of all ages with special needs.
* Maintain a professional attitude and great communication skills with employees, campers, and families.
* Ability to multitask and handle complex situations appropriately.
* Background in Martial Arts and Prior experience in camp or after school program a plus!
- Job title: Camp Counselor/Youth Camp Counselor
(age 16+ with valid work permit)
Compensation: $15.96 - $16.50 based on experience
* Assist in scheduled activities, while creating a fun, positive and safe experience for all campers.
* Assist Instructors and youth leaders with all scheduled activities.
* Ensure safety of campers and volunteers.
* Demonstrate fun and active demeanor.
* Work well with different age groups of children, teens, and individuals of all ages with special needs.
* Maintain a professional attitude and great communication skills with employees, campers, and families.
* Ability to multitask and handle complex situations appropriately.
* Background in Martial Arts and Prior experience in camp or after school program a plus!
