Freight & Logistics Coordinator
SUMMARY
Exciting opportunity for a Freight & Logistic Coordinator in a fast-growing, disposable consumer products company, located in Hauppauge, NY.
The candidate chosen for the Logistics Coordinator will also possess excellent people skills, be friendly, be a team player, be able to take initiative when necessary and carry out all responsibilities in accordance with company policies, core values and applicable laws.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Coordinate with import suppliers along with handling documents, incoming logistics of materials.
- Liaise and negotiate with carriers Full Trucks Loads and LTL’s
- Keep track of quantity, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency
- Plan routes and process shipments, including packing lists and bills of lading
- Organize shipping details with customers and manage shipping requirements
- Assist to improve processes and reduce overall costs of inbound/outbound transportation
- Responsible for ensuring that all documentation is accurate and complete with freight forwarders
- Request quotes for all types of freight
- Coordinate import and export (ocean/air) shipments; arrange LTL shipments
SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Proven working experience in logistics
- Record of successful distribution and logistics management
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Experience utilizing ERP is very helpful.
- Phone experience working with carriers, vendors, and customers
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects
- Exceptional sense of priorities and flexibility to react fast to changing requirements
- Must be fluent in English
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Associates Degree – Logistics and Warehouse Management or equivalent
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years’ experience in logistics/ transportation functions.
