The MCS FP&A - Leadership Development Program provides an accelerated training program for college graduates who wish to pursue a career in Corporate Finance. We will build on your technical and interpersonal skills by providing you a role with significant responsibility as well as exposure to experienced business leaders, mentors, and subject matter experts.

This position is in Radford, VA with remote opportunities two days a week.
Opportunity for annual global travel assisting in balance sheet reviews.
Program Responsibilities

  • Partner with a Financial Analyst within the MCS division.
  • Learn first-hand from the analyst and contribute directly to the financial success of their manufacturing plant.
    • The Financial Planning & Analysis function plays a key role in each business unit. Our Analysts are intimately involved in our manufacturing operations and work side-by-side with the business unit leader to evaluate and report on all aspects of the business including profit & loss and working capital on a global basis.
  • Opportunities to attend a variety of trainings throughout the program as well as inter-departmental events to develop skills and experience outside of typical finance duties.
  • Rotate through various responsibilities that are fundamental to providing accurate and timely actuals that are an integral part of Kollmorgen finance's overall fiduciary responsibility to its shareholders.
    • Understanding the company's inner workings of accounting is critical to financial leadership and proactively establishing best practices in balance sheet reconciliations, general ledgers as well as accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Annually, an evaluation will be made, including skills testing and feedback from both the manager and the analyst on progress towards the desired career. You will have a clear career path and individual development plan and we will work with you to close developmental gaps.
  • Develop the ability to analyze and understand the cost structure of our product. Work directly with our cost accounting, operations, product management, and sales and marketing leaders to identify opportunities to reduce costs through every step of the sourcing and manufacturing process.
  • Play a critical role in understanding root cause and prioritization of manufacturing and purchasing variances and participate in the global weekly and monthly report out for their location.
  • Assist the analyst in the annual budget development.
    • Conduct interviews cross functionally to attain key data necessary to analyze trends and produce an accurate forecast.
  • Lead the audit of a plant wide physical inventory including auditor training, results tracking, and efficiently directing the team toward a successful event.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required. Finance or Accounting, preferred.

An effective incumbent to the FP&A Leadership Development Program can directly and indirectly influence the accuracy of our reported income statement and balance sheet, the timeliness of achieving month end closing goals, and the overall success of the business.
