Company Overview:
J. Cumby Construction is a licensed general contractor based in Cookeville, Tennessee, specializing in water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, commercial, and industrial construction projects.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Foreman with hands-on experience in water/wastewater projects and commercial construction. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing project execution, ensuring accurate estimates, reviewing drawings and specifications, and maintaining job site safety.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Install and repair underground pipe, fittings, and valves of various materials and sizes for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains.
- Utilize pipe lasers and transits to position pipe and fittings in trenches.
- Provide hand signals to equipment operators.
- Backfill trenches using hand tools.
- Measure, cut, and conduct leak tests on pipes.
- Ensure compliance with job site safety protocols.
- Maintain adherence to project plans and schedules to meet production goals.
- Develop a prioritized work plan for the crew based on project requirements.
- Perform equipment checks to ensure proper working conditions.
- Prepare necessary reports as required.
- Possess knowledge of heavy equipment operations and maintenance.
- Have experience in heavy civil construction, particularly in water/wastewater projects.
- Understand pipe laying techniques for water mains, sanitary sewers, and storm sewers, and ability to interpret plans and specifications.
- Preferred knowledge of trench safety, rigging/signaling, and experience with ductile, steel, and PVC pipe.
- Willingness to travel as needed for multi-state projects.

Note: Having a crew is a plus, and the compensation package will be generous and based on experience. This role does require travel in East and Middle Tennessee as well as certain areas of North Carolina.
