Summary of Position:
This position is responsible for monitoring asset-wide performance and managing a team of Chemical Technicians focused on improving chemical deliverability of surface and subsurface applications. This position will ensure a consistent focus on wellbore and surface piping/equipment integrity with responsibilities concentrated on chemical deliverability (i.e., the chemical pumps are functioning properly and injecting the proper amount of chemicals), chemical cost control and well optimization.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of Company and contract Chemical Technicians.
- Troubleshoots and responds to daily chemical program challenges.
- Manage chemical vendors and develop long-term relationships, set expectations with vendors, and regularly meet with chemical vendors to review chemical performance, usage, and cost.
- Responsible for minimizing downtime associated with chemical pumps, tanks, and injection equipment.
- Monitors and manages company LOE as it relates to chemical program.
- Accountable for ensuring that chemical pumps are functioning properly and injecting the correct dosage of chemical prescribed for the well to protect well integrity.
- Analyze results of third-party chemical testing, sampling, and reporting, and document findings via chemical usage report.
- Accountable for ensuring accurate monitoring of chemical inventories, pump injection rates, pump maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Collect and analyze pipe failure data, provide recommendations to address root causes of failures.
- Oversee H2S monitoring, providing treatments and recommendations for mitigation.
- Oversee chemical optimization meetings with production foremen, lead operators and lease operators and provide written recommendations for cost control and/or well integrity.
- Work with procurement team to generate RFPs and source vendors for chemicals, third-party providers.
- Analyze monthly chemical usage reports from chemical vendors and provide monthly chemical usage and cost by production foreman area and lease operator route.
- Work in all weather conditions including rain, snow, mud, etc. – work is performed in hazardous driving and working conditions all seasons of the year.
- Operate a vehicle safely in all weather conditions to drive to oil and gas equipment located in rural/open range country.
- On job training with less experienced chemical technicians.
- Follow safe operating practices and ensure compliance with all CIVI Environment, Safety & Regulatory requirements.
- Assure work performed adheres to CIVI standards.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:
- Strong mechanical ability and demonstrated ability to optimize downhole chemical deliverability and cost.
- Knowledge of basic oil & gas processing equipment.
- Basic computer skills (e.g., e-mail, Word, Excel).
- Ability to walk along open range/country, dirt roads, inclines/declines, etc. to reach equipment and climb in/out of ditches.
- Ability to repair equipment, as needed, and read equipment gauges on large scale compressor station equipment.
- Ability to lift 80 lbs. and maneuver heavy objects and operate machinery.
- Proven ability to multi-task and meet stringent deadlines with a positive and helpful “can-do” attitude.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safe work behavior and habits
- Ability to work independently and effectively with a diverse group.
- Work well with all field team members along with all office support needs.
- Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Follow safe operating practices and ensure compliance with CIVI Environment, Safety & Regulatory requirements.
- Assure all work performed adheres to CIVI standards.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Builds, supervises, and manages teams of chemical technicians.
- Responsible for setting expectations and building training as necessary for new and existing employees to develop skill sets.
- Expected to lead and teach by example, when necessary, on location and in the field.
Education & Experience:
- 10-15+ years’ oil & gas field operations, chemical program optimization, maintenance, or adjacent field.
- 2 plus years’ supervisory experience.
- Trade school or bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
Travel Requirements:
- Regular travel to office and field locations required for both the Midland and Delaware Basins.
