Blue Ridge Power (BRP) is seeking a SeniorProjectCost Analyst to join our Project Controls team! The Senior Project Cost Analyst is responsible for collecting and analyzing complex financial information related to project expenses. The Senior Project Cost Analyst will be seeking ways to improve the accuracy of budgets and forecasts and to decrease the cost of departments and projects. This position is a project-based role for select BRP projects. This position is designated as a safety-sensitive position.

This position offers per diem while working on our project sites. Site-states include, but are not limited to: North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.

What You'll Do:

  • Reports to the Project Controls Director and performs duties without assistance.
  • Ability to Create Project Work Breakdown Structures.
  • Ability to Generate Project Cost Report
  • Proficient in Data Management
  • Review and analyze Project Cost and ensure cost is correctly coded to the correct project and corresponding budgets in accordance with project Work Breakdown Structures.
  • Prepare Job Cost Adjustment (JCAs) entries to correct miscoded costs.
  • Evaluate unbudgeted costs and escalate through the change management process. Unbudgeted costs should result in a Project Cost deviation (internal) or potential change order (external).
  • Assist in resource planning and tracking.
  • Report on project progress.
  • Support efforts to validate goods receipt and subcontractor performance according to their contract.
  • Prepare accruals to accurately capture costs in the correct accounting period.
  • Prepare necessary schedules to analyze cost components (e.g., Labor, supplies, permanent materials, subcontracts, equipment, etc.).
  • Analyze historical Project Cost, change management, schedule, and internal and external risk factors that indicate the financial direction of the project to produce a total estimate at completion forecasts.
  • Lead Project Cost Reviews with Project & Cost Control Management.
  • This position may be required to manage a project administrator with limited responsibilities to maintain project documentation and records, timekeeping, craft onboarding, goods receipt, and support the accounts payable function.
  • Other duties as directed.

Must-Haves:

  • 4+ years of experience in project controls, accounting, or finance-related fields.
  • Strong computer skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong work ethic, detail-oriented, and can work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of standard construction accounting and costing principles.
  • Ability to exercise creativity and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
  • Basic plan and specification reading, review, and interpretation skills.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional, collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with initiative to seek innovative solutions.
  • Results-oriented to ensure delivery of appropriate products and services in an accurate, complete, and timely fashion.
  • Active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback.
  • Understanding of utility construction processes.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience in resource and cost management.
  • Experience with Power BI reporting.
  • Procore experience.
  • P6 experience.
  • Renewable project controls experience.
  • HCSS – Heavy Bid, Heavy Job experience.
  • Intermediate experience using site reporting/analytic tools.

Education and Certifications:

  • Accredited 4-year degree in accounting, finance, engineering, construction, or business management required.   
  • Must possess and maintain a current valid driver's license required.

Working Environment and Physical Demand:

  • This position is a project-based position that includes per diem when traveling for work.
  • This position will require 75% travel to our project sites.
  • Office visits may be required when needed.
  • May require lifting/carrying items up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to sit/stand at a desk and utilize a computer, for extended periods of time.
