As Sodexo Government Services continues to have the proud pleasure of supporting the Air Force, we are seeking an Food Operations Manager 1 to lead the operations a the student training dining facility at Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA; serving our dedicated airmen, families and base civilians. The Food Operations Manager 1 will be a key driver in leading a team of Subcontractor cooks serving a wide variety of fresh and creative offers to our customers. This position will have oversite of one of two Air Force dining facilities located on base.

The Food Operations Manager 1 will function as the lead manager in the kitchen and will direct all kitchen staff and operations. Training, food quality, food and physical safety, and client/customer relations are a top focus for the Food Operations Manager and his/her team.
Vandenberg Air Force Base is located in the Santa Barbara County, CA area.
The Ops Managers must have supervisory skills and managing people to make every day a better day for the Air Force with the goal of creating dining experiences, not just meals. This key hire for our management team will possess leadership and communication skills and will be responsible for the successful every day running of the operation. This position will interface with the client and Airmen on a regular basis to listen to and look for opportunities for innovation and creativity.

Position Summary
Provides leadership and supervision for the on-site food service exempt and non-exempt level staff in the delivery of our contractual agreement with the client. Provides supervision for food services at account/unit to ensure client satisfaction and retention for the company. Implements business practices in order to uphold company mission, values and commitments made in the Sodexo client contractual agreement.
Key Duties
- Establishes a safe work environment
- Utilizes Sodexo tools and programs to develop client, customer, and staff relationships, to ensure account retention
- Implements and fully utilizes all Sodexo tools and programs to ensure financial outcomes
- Directs daily operations of food service to ensure employees have appropriate equipment, inventory and resources, ensures operating standards and regulatory requirements are met
- Develops and implements plans, projects, with defined objectives, methods, timetables and budget to support client and Sodexo strategic plan
- Ensures adherence to all HR standards for Sodexo, client, and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications & Requirements
Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience - 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
