Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Fleet Manager to oversee our transportation operations. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for managing a fleet of vehicles, ensuring efficient and timely transportation of goods, and maintaining compliance with safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transportation management systems and possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate the daily operations of the fleet, including scheduling, routing, and dispatching of vehicles
- Monitor vehicle performance and maintenance to ensure optimal efficiency and minimize downtime
- Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Collaborate with drivers, warehouse staff, and other stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of goods
- Utilize transportation management systems to track shipments, manage inventory, and optimize routes
- Conduct regular inspections of vehicles to ensure they meet safety standards
- Oversee driver training programs to promote safe driving practices
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, repairs, and inspections
- Analyze data on fuel consumption, mileage, and other key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Fleet Manager or similar role in the transportation industry
- Strong knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS) such as DAT Solutions among others
- Proficient in data entry and analysis using spreadsheets or other software tools
- Familiarity with shipping/receiving processes and procedures
- Knowledge of GPS tracking systems and their application in fleet management
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with drivers, staff, and clients
- Ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions
- Familiarity with geographic information systems (GIS) is a plus
