Overview: TThe Fleet Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and managing the programs for acquisition, assignment, utilization, maintenance, repair, replacement, and disposal of fleet vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Daily involvement with E-Logs and driver compliance.
- Quarterly review and request driver abstracts and MVR’s.
- Annual request of FMCSA Clearinghouse compliance for drivers.
- Booking quarterly DOT drug tests for drivers.
- Manage and review leases with Penske and Idea Lease.
- Purchase new equipment such as tractors, trailers, and forklifts.
- Review and discuss all violations from roadside inspections with Operations Managers and Divisions Managers.
- Review and maintenance of insurance.
- Ensure all cars, trucks, and trailers are up to date and accurate.
- Work closely with the finance and accounting team for vehicle transactions, leases, purchasing, and selling.
- Set-up new hire drug tests, fuel cards, and Geotab accounts.
- IRC with Health and Safety Manager for vehicle and property related incidents.
- Explore options for fuel and propane with different vendors for the best pricing.
- Ensure the best practices are being followed.
- Collaborate with leasing companies and divisions regarding IFTA and vehicle registrations.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 7-10 years Fleet Manager/Industry experience.
- Strong capability to effectively consult, influence, negotiate, and lead change.
- Strong rapport-building and effective relationship skills.
- Strategic thinking, project management, and planning capability.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where deadlines are essential.
- Demonstrated success in handling competing priorities and tasks.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Relevant fleet Industry knowledge.
