The Fire System Designer job will be Hybrid in Maitland FL.
The Fire System Designer is responsible for national account customers submittals, code compliant, Fire System designs for transmission to the local authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ). Successful preparation ensures that the AHJ can successfully review, approve and permit those systems. Provides national expertise of fire code interpretation and compliance for all states and counties, including but not limited to National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) and International Code Council (ICC) fire codes, used in the system design work and as a support group for the project teams, service department and customers. The position is active in the fire alarm and fire suppression communities.
What You’ll Do:
Maintain Knowledge Base of Fire Alarm Industry
• Current code knowledge
• Maintain and pursue licensing
• Provide guidance and support for junior Designers.
• Review new industry products
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with key individuals and organizations within the fire alarm industry.
Perform Fire Alarm System Design and Review
• Fire system design will be performed using AutoCAD software, utilizing customer provided architectural drawings.
• Design Fire Systems per local, national and state codes, as found in research documents and provide guidance for junior Designers.
• Complete battery calculations, riser diagrams, and details that pertain to each customer or type of system.
• Work within the timelines and constraints of the project to ensure timely performance and completeness of requirements.
• Assist with jurisdiction contact information. (Internet, phone, etc.)
• Assist in creating bid submittals for prospective and current customers when necessary
What You’ll Need:
- Intermediate knowledge of NFPA (National Fire Prevention Association) Fire Codes and ICC (International Code Council); Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Fire Alarm Systems and their components.
- NICET II or III Fire Alarm Systems Certification.
- Proficiency in D365, Excel, Outlook, and other specialized software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working on AutoCAD.
