Fire Extinguisher & Suppression System Technician

WE ARE GROWING! Fire Safety Specialists is seeking a self-motivated and independent individual to service kitchen fire Suppression Systems, Fire Extinguishers, and emergency and exit lighting for our established and new customers at their locations. Position has little direct supervision.

Applicant must possess a valid and clean Driver’s license, reliable transportation, reliable and working cell phone, High School diploma, be able to maintain a flexible schedule, have the ability to speak, read, write and communicate in English (Spanish is a plus) with employees and customers, the ability to operate a computer and tablet, and pass pre-employment drug screening and background check. Salary commensurate with experience.

State of Florida active permits are highly preffered.

Job Type: Full-time with some overtime

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday periodically on call. Start time varies normally 8 am or earlier.

Salary: $17.00 - $24.00 per hour.

Job Functions & Requirements

· Conduct Fire Extinguisher, kitchen fire Suppression System, and emergency & exit lighting installation, testing and inspections to ensure that systems are operating properly.

· Identify problems or discrepancies resulting from the inspection and document in detail on inspection reports.

· Interact with building owner or representative prior to, during and after completion of the testing process, reviewing report results and next steps as necessary.

· Use field service software to track work orders, materials needed, time on job, fill out reports, write invoices, and collect payments.

· Act as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times.

· Maintain proper stock in service vehicle and maintain company provided tools in working order.

· Display professional appearance & practice good personal hygiene.

· Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

· Ensure company provided vehicle is clean and well maintained as required by company policies.

· Required to be punctual to work locations and complete scheduled projects in timely manner.

· System Technicians will be placed in on-call status on a rotating basis to handle emergency service requests.

· Periodically attend training sessions to stay up on latest technology, codes, and standards changes.

· Must be able to work cooperatively and maintain a positive and professional manner.

· Excellent communication, organization and prioritization skills.

· Maintain strict confidentiality in performance of all duties.

· May train or assist less experienced/newer colleagues on the job.

· Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

Experience, Knowledge, Skill Requirements

3-5 years’ experience servicing fire Suppression Systems and Fire Extinguishers preferred. Will train less experienced permitted technician. Must be able to work alone and as part of a team.

Basic math skills, mechanical aptitude, problem solving skills, customer service skills, decision making skills, ability to multitask, ability to meet project schedules, ability to plan and organize, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to train other is required.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is consistently required to bend, ascend and descend step stools, ladders and stairs, kneel, lift <75lbs, reach above and below shoulders, stand and walk for extended periods of time. Employee is required to see in color, close and far distances, peripheral, depth, and adjust focus. Employee will frequently balance, crouch, drive, kneel, lift >50lbs, sit, stoop, twist, and work at heights and on roofs. Must be able to maneuver body in tight areas and work over hot kitchen appliances. This is a greasy job, must not be afraid to get hands dirty and greasy.

Work Environment

Frequent local travel in company work van and occasional regional travel with overnight stays is required. Employee will frequently be required to work inside and outside in hot/cold temperatures and be exposed to loud noises, cramped quarters, dust, fumes and odors, standing on hard surfaces, and electrical hazards. Employees will occasionally be exposed to chemicals, moving machinery, uneven and slippery surfaces. Employee will consistently wear all appropriate personal protective equipment, as required by company safety policies.
