Description

The Hiller Companies, LLC has an immediate opening for Fire Alarm Service Technician.

Pay Range: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour

Fire Alarm Technicians are responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing Fire Alarm and critical life safety systems. The Fire Alarm Technician will perform routine installation and checkout on a variety of systems utilizing local codes, company procedures and engineering drawings.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Install Fire Alarm systems, control panels and all other equipment for Fire Alarm systems with the guidance of installation drawings, building plans and electrical layouts.
  • Mount sensors at appropriate locations, performing all necessary tasks, such as drilling holes for cabling and accessing locations to ensure optimal wiring layouts.
  • Program and configure FACPs using manufacturer-provided software, ensuring proper functionality and integration with other building systems as required.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operation/product manuals.
  • Ability to manage job scheduling and job progress in an efficient and cost-effective manner, with a strong focus on quality.
  • Inspect installation sites and study work orders, building plans, and installation manuals to determine materials requirements and installation procedures.  
  • Complete and submit all required task-related, activity, productivity, and other documentation in a timely manner.
  • Making sure all work complies with relevant codes and regulations.
  • Ensure Production Efficiency – awareness of budget vs. actual labor hours.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and follow all safety regulations and practices.
  • Ensure proper Maintenance and care of equipment – trucks, lifts, tools, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Licensure & Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • NICET Level II Certification preferred.

 

Experience:

  • 4 years of experience, preferably in fire/life safety industry or a related field is preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Capabilities:

Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of NFPA code requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and system designs.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools commonly used in the industry.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.

Physical Stamina:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work for up to 8 hours per day:
    • On Ladders
    • At heights
    • Using hand and power tools.
    • Operate specialized equipment, aerial lifts, etc.
    • On feet, climbing, bending over, picking up, overhead, etc.

Attention to Detail:

  • Strong observational skills to ensure accurate installation according to specifications.
  • Ability to follow instructions and guidelines precisely.

Teamwork and Communication:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.

  • Understanding of safety regulations and best practices in the fire and life safety industry
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and use protective equipment.
