Powers Gymnastics is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join our team.
As the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for managing the accounting processes, preparing financial reports, maintaining internal controls, working with external auditors, and collaborating on budgets and forecasts. This is a key role within the organization, requiring strong financial acumen and the ability to provide strategic guidance.
Job Responsibilities
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manage the accounting and bookkeeping processes; prepare financial statements
- Oversee the bookkeeping process for all lines of business; record standard operating procedures and the accounting calendar for direct reports to adhere to.
- Implement accounting/bookkeeping technology, techniques, and integrations to streamline processes.
- Create effective month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting close processes to ensure timely review of financial statements with the Executive Team prior to distribution to the external stakeholders.
- Prepare GAAP balance sheet, income statement, and the statement of cash flows on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for Executive Management to review and distribute to stakeholders.
- Accountability for financials as presented and distributed to internal and external stakeholders.
Internal controls
- Implement the core components of internal financial control: segregation of duties, authorization and approval, physical control, documentation, and reconciliation.
- Develop and record standard operating procedures for the digital processing of money, the physical handling of money, periodic reconciliation, and recordkeeping requirements.
Tax and Audit
- Ensure all continuing tax obligations of the company are satisfied. This includes Federal, Franchise, Sales & Use, Real Estate Property, Personal Property, Excise, and any other miscellaneous tax requirements.
- Act as audit liaison – meeting with external auditors, providing all required information and reports, understanding audit findings, and implementing reporting/control changes, communicating the outcomes of audits to the relevant stakeholders.
Collaborate on the creation, implementation, and tracking of budgets and forecasts
- Work with the Financial Planning & Analysis team to create periodic budgets for the Regional Directors and Managers of the local operating companies. Use historical financial results, variance analysis, and an understanding of the business’s trends to contribute effectively.
- Work with the Financial Planning & Analysis team to create the Annual Operating Plan (AOP). Use the periodic budgets for the Regional Directors and Managers of the local operating companies as well as an understanding of our future financial obligations (A/P, debt, dividends, etc.) and collections (A/R) to contribute effectively to the AOP for the Powers Holding Company.
- Establish systems and processes to measure variance of results versus budgets and forecasts; analyze, discuss, and report on reasons for variance with Executive Team and other relevant stakeholders.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles, GAAP, IFRS, and financial report writing
- Experience with company start-ups is a plus, but not required
Compensation and Benefits:
- $130,000 - $160,000 annual salary based on experience
