Financial Controller

This is a remote position, MUST LIVE IN THE PHOENIX AREA.

In this multifaceted role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including accounting, controlling, and bookkeeping functions. This role requires a high level of accuracy, excellent attention to detail, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will have exceptional organizational skills, along with a strong understanding of financial concepts and processes.

Position:

• Full-time
• Remote (MUST LIVE IN THE PHOENIX AREA)

Responsibilities:

• Documentation and Knowledge Transfer
  • Compile comprehensive documentation for all financial processes, workflows, and procedures.
  • Provide clear instructions for preparing year-end financials, tax preparation, and packaging financials for tax prep.
• Cash Balances
  • Maintain accurate records of cash balances, bank account information, and reconciliation statements.
• Tax Prep and Filings
  • Ensure the provision of all relevant tax documents, historical tax returns, and schedules.
• Administrative Access
  • Facilitate the smooth transfer of administrative access to accounting systems, including software and financial databases.
• Banking Systems and Payment Execution
  • Transfer signatory authority on bank accounts and update account information with the bank.
  • Provide instructions on payment execution processes.
• Key Contacts
  • Compile a list of key contacts, including banking representatives, vendors, 3rd party partners, and other entities regularly interacted with.
• Accounting Records
  • Identify the location of accounting records, such as general ledgers, accounts payable/receivable, vendor contracts, and lease agreements.
• Monthly Close-outs, Year-end Financial Statements, and Reports
  • Transfer historical financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and any other relevant financial reports.
• Bank Account Reconciliations
  • Provide documentation on bank account reconciliations.
• List of Bills Due in Next 60 Days
  • Maintain a list of upcoming bills and payments due within the next 60 days.
• Compliance and Regulations
  • Outline specific compliance requirements or regulations related to multifamily property real estate accounting.
• Review and Handover
  • Conduct a thorough review of all transferred information and processes before handing over responsibilities.

Qualifications:

• Accounting background with 3-5 years in multi-family accounting.
• AppFolio is a plus.
• Strong understanding of accounting processes and systems.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Familiarity with document management systems and electronic record keeping.
• Fast paced with excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High ethical standards and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements.

Compensation:

• $65,000 - $75,000 annually + bonus
