Financial Controller
Job Description:
Pravati Capital is searching for a Financial Controller to facilitate the growing needs of our organization. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and goal-focused individual who embraces a collaborative team-based environment and is a strategic thinker.
The Financial Controller will be responsible for facilitating the day to day finance and accounting activities of the company including maintaining internal books & records for the various affiliated entities, preparing reports, and compiling financial statements.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing the manager and affiliated entities’ accounting and reporting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial information for internal and external stakeholders.
- Create and record journal entries in the company’s accounting software.
- Create and maintain budgets and special purpose calculation files as needed.
- Monitor capital activity and investment activity, and maintain investment schedules.
- Reconcile cash activity and bank statements on a regular basis.
- Track invoices, expenses and accounts payables and ensure timely payment of outstanding invoices.
- Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual financial analyses/statements including balance sheet, incomes statement, bank reconciliations, review of A/P and A/R, journal entries, general ledger.
- Collaborate closely with asset management, legal, investor relations , and other departments to fullfil information and ad hoc analysis requests received from those departments.
- Drive process improvements and system enhancements to optimize accounting operations and reporting accuracy.
- Assist with tax audits and tax returns, and certain tax and regulatory filings as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Masters degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, or related field; CPA a plus
- 5+ years of work experience at an accounting firm/auditor, fund administrator, private investment fund, or law firm.
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and U.S. Tax Code as it pertains to private investment funds, limited partnerships, and limited liability companies.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like QuickBooks
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently on a team and collaborate in a team environment
- Excellent client relationship management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced professional environment and handle multiple projects and deadlines. Strong organizational skills are a must
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage ambiguity
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with leadership at all levels
- Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel
