JOB SUMMARY
The Financial Analyst focuses on creating value as a finance business partner, supporting Schellman's overall finance functions. This role plays a pivotal part in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial decision support & analysis. The Financial Analyst will have the ability to work independently and collaborate with cross functional teams. The Financial Analyst reports to the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis.
Essential Functions:
- Assists in preparing budget to actual MD&A style reports and analyzes variances. Facilitates monthly updates with department heads and Principals to review actual versus budgeted results, project margin variances and recommend action plans.
- Investigates variances in the budgets and reports findings and recommendations to management in order to optimize effectiveness of spending.
- Works closely with various finance team members to properly capture forecast changes, allocations, and various transactions.
- Updates the annual budget and long-term plans. Updates forecasts throughout the year, including monthly maintenance of the financial model and importation of data into the ERP system.
- Evaluates existing reporting processes and identifies opportunities to streamline, automate and derive efficiencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Strong analytical skills, organization, attention to detail and curiosity to develop new methods and processes.
- Exercises good judgment, flexible, and comfortable working under time constraints and with multiple operating constituents.
- Strong system skills including expert level Excel skills.
- Self-motivated; able to work independently as well as with a team.

- Degree in finance or other relevant subject area directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
- 2-4 years of Financial Analyst experience required
- Bonus points if you have any of the following - Workday ERP experience, Business Intelligence tools
