Finance Specialist

Accurate tracking of church income and payables. Process charitable contributions to individual accounts, including all online contributions; oversee and manage bank deposits and updates to our QuickBooks accounting system. Track special and memorial gifts and provide monthly reports to the Memorial and Special Gifts Committee and Church Administrator to make sure donations are properly acknowledged.

2. Reconcile all accounts through QB and AP process. Manage accounts payable, payments of invoices, including reimbursements to staff and volunteers. Ensure proper coding and funds are available for committee expenses. Prepare bills for payment, ensure all fees and charges are accurate and have checks printed to be signed. Ensure GL codes are accurate and funded when charting accounts.

3. Assist with creating operating budgets and tracking expenses. Track expenses and communicate such via monthly budget statements, and when needed call or email to resolve budgetary inconsistencies with Committee members and church leadership.

Prepare for annual audit, close books after December 31. Assist Church Leadership in assisting in creating an annual operating budget for the congregation’s approval.

4. Accurately process payroll. Process all staff payroll transactions and update all necessary forms (change in status, new hires and ensure all taxes are submitted (State, Federal and UI).

This position will require one day in the office with the potential of remote hours once trained.
