How will you make an impact in this role?

The Accounting Manager of Asset-backed Securitization (“ABS”) is a key position within Global Treasury Controllership. ABS provides one of the primary funding sources for American Express. American Express periodically securitizes Card Member receivables and loans arising from its card business through the transfer of those assets to securitization trusts. The trusts then issue securities to third-party investors, collateralized by the transferred assets.

The ABS Controllership team is responsible for the accounting, cash management, controls, and SEC & Bank Holding Company reporting requirements to help support this vital funding source for American Express. The team is committed to excellence, talent development, encouraging work/life balance, and timely recognition of team members.

This position will be responsible for accounting, reporting, SoX and PRSA controls and project management. Specific Responsibilities:

Lead process improvements and automation for the asset-backed securitization process by working closely with treasury, legal, technology and other business partners

• Provide critical information to the business and Finance leadership in a standardized and intuitive manner
• Ensure a strong internal control environment to support SOX testing and REG AB attestations
• Review and instruct cash settlement activities, including daily cash settlement, monthly cash settlement, and debt issuance/maturity activity
• Perform accounting activities, including monthly accounting, distribution, ABS model updates, documentation of key processes, and final settlements
• Perform reporting activities, including regulatory submissions, intercompany balance reporting, financial submissions, SEC reporting, and monthly reconciliations
• Support ABS financial statement footnote preparation, monthly ABS presentations, fair value analysis of ABS assets, Interest-only strip valuation, and ASC 810 and 860 analysis
• Support business initiatives and transactions

Minimum Qualifications

• • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 6-10 years’ experience in finance and/or accounting
  • Strong collaborative and relationship skills and experience
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Strong ability to analyze results and data to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Strong understanding of MS Office tools and basic understanding of Tableau and Power BI
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions

Preferred Qualifications

• • MBA or Master’s degree
  • CPA, CMA, or equivalent
  • Prior public accounting experience
  • Experience in the financial services industry
  • Experience in securitization
  • Experience on ABS Suite

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
