What You'll Do
As a Finance Director, you will manage the capital budget of the company, including investment analysis across IT, Real Estate and Stores. In addition, you will provide financial oversight/control for several key areas of the company, including IT, corporate purchasing, and facilities. These areas are complex in nature and require a unique set of processes and controls to create the appropriate level of visibility needed for successful planning and forecasting. You will require strong leadership skills as we establish new processes and oversight. You will also work closely with fixed asset accounting to ensure our assets are appropriately characterized in their useful life and can be identified in cases where impairment is necessary.
  • Develop and manage annual & monthly Capital, Real Estate, IT and corporate purchasing budgets and forecasts.
  • Drive business case review for strategic initiatives / CAPEX across the Company including conducting thorough analysis of business cases, performing independent vetting of opportunities, and validating and measuring investment ROI.
  • Manage all capital and contractual IT spend to ensure sufficient budget is in place prior to execution of spend, including monthly reporting on open commitments and budget variances.
  • Manage monthly reporting on capital spend and approval requests, including Executive Management and Board level presentations. This will include working with business teams to appropriately vet the projects for approval, working with Senior leaders and business teams to identify funding as business needs and priorities change, and monitoring the spend of all approved projects to accurately adjust the capital forecast for over/under runs.
  • Manage the corporate purchasing team, including establishing processes for enhanced financial control and visibility.
  • Provide financial support to the Real Estate and Construction teams to develop new store proforma metrics / performance analysis, geographic market analysis, database development, new prototypes, etc.
  • Ownership of the long-range plan, incorporating strategic projects as forecasted/approved to provide long range guidance of sales and EBITDA.

What You'll Bring
  • Minimum 10-15 years' experience in retail accounting and/or finance with either purchasing, construction financial management or capital management experience.
  • Proven leadership skills underpinned by strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate to all levels of management, work collaboratively across departments, and manage external relationships.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop a team.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products including advance level Excel skills.
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration or related, MBA preferred.
  • Work Location: Hybrid. You will spend up to 3 days per week on average at our Alameda, CA Home Office.

CA Pay Range is $180,000-$210,000 annually
