Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Accounting to join our team. As the Director of Accounting, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. This is a key leadership role within our organization, and we are looking for someone who can effectively manage a team while also providing strategic guidance to senior management.
Duties:
The Director of Accounting will be responsible for transitioning our accounting and finance systems from third-party to in-house. Following this transition, the Director will lead all aspects of TRG’s accounting and finance systems including:
- Preparing and managing monthly construction draws for all projects under construction (currently eight draws a month).
- Preparing project budgets, including cost schedules, and working with field personnel to stay within those budgets—communicating any variances to upper management, and re-budgeting or re-forecasting as necessary.
- Setting up a paperless office system including organized storage of all correspondence, contracts, bills, POs, liens, and other documents related to construction projects and accounting.
- Processing all accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Preparing monthly financial statements (balance sheets, income statements and month-end close) GL account review and reconciliation including G&A analysis.
- Job cost analysis and reporting.
- Preparing audit work papers and schedules.
- Implementing and managing software platforms for accounting, budgeting, and project management.
- Analyzing project expenditures and project accounting transactions.
- Supervising and mentoring support staff to assist with accounting operations.
- Manage company payroll process.
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (Master's degree preferred)
- CPA certification strongly preferred
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation, double entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, and budgeting
- Experience with construction accounting is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP)
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail
- Solid understanding of GAAP principles
- Strong leadership abilities with the ability to mentor and develop staff
