Finance Director
Directdefense is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Finance to lead our financial operations and strategic planning, ensuring alignment with company objectives and driving sustainable growth in a dynamic cybersecurity industry.'The Director of Finance plays a key role in developing, monitoring, and evaluating overall corporate strategy with the COO and executive team, with emphasis on bottom line performance, working capital, and enhancing shareholder value. The Director of Finance provides financial insights to help make better decisions regarding strategy development and execution.
The Director of Finance must interact effectively with all parts of the company and be viewed as a trusted business advisor by all employees, not just the President and COO. Critical outcomes include supporting the executive team with key financial information and operational analytics, and driving a culture of accountability in managing the business, adding value to operating businesses and voicing well-substantiated dissenting opinions, as appropriate. The responsibilities include planning, operations, financial reporting, risk management and treasury.
Responsibilities
Planning
Assist in formulating the company's strategic direction and supporting tactical initiatives
Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans
Develop financial and tax strategies
Manage the capital request and budgeting processes
Develop performance measures that support the company's strategic direction
Operations
Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team
Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team
Manage the accounting, payroll, tax, and treasury functions
Manage any third parties to which functions have been outsourced
Oversee the company's transaction processing systems
Implement operational best practices
Financial Reporting
Oversee the issuance of financial information
Report financial results to the board of advisors, and any future board of directors, as appropriate
Risk Management
Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile
Construct and monitor reliable control systems
Maintain appropriate insurance coverage
Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
Report risk issues to the board of advisors (and any future board of directors)
Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations
Treasury
Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts
Arrange for debt and equity financing, as required
Maintain banking relationships
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 15 years progressive experience in accounting or finance positions
Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team
Demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting
Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and systems
Proven effectiveness leading professionals in finance and accounting
Technologically savvy, with an ability to point to examples of new processes and systems that increased efficiency in a fast-moving environment
Flexible and a self-starter; able to multi-task while also being highly detail-oriented
Unquestionable integrity and credibility
Certifications
CPA or CMA preferred
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or Finance, required
MBA, preferred

Salary range:$120,000 - $180,000
Bonus: up to 10% annual bonus

As required by Colorado law under the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, DirectDefense provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of Colorado only, the range of starting pay for this role is $120,000 - $180,000 per year with an annual bonus.
