A valued member of the leadership team, the Finance and Communications Associate collaborates with the Producer, Artistic Director, Managing Director, and Production Manager to coordinate the development of the Illinois Shakespeare Festival (ISF) season budget. The Finance and Communications Associate oversees all financial transactions including purchasing, contracts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and reconciliation of numerous General Revenue, Agency, and Foundation Accounts. The Finance and Communications Associate must track the ISF budget in both the university's Fiscal Year and ISF's Performance Year and prepares timely financial reports for the leadership team and dean’s office.

Required Qualifications- Bachelor's or equivalent degree with significant course work in Accounting, Finance, Theatre Management, Arts Management, or a related field.
- Two years (24 months) of work experience that included all of the following:
a. professional level accounting and financial management
b. preparing accurate budget reports and monitoring "budget to actual" expenses
c. reconciling a complex budget with multiple funding accounts - Demonstrated mastery of computer software including databases, spreadsheets, word processing, and accounting software applications.
- Demonstrated mastery of design software used for social media marketing such as Canva, Photoshop.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for public writing and editing.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, delegate, and supervise work in a calm and efficient manner.
- Ability to:
a. demonstrate initiative, work independently, manage time efficiently, and maintain confidentiality
b. embrace the mission of the School of Theatre & Dance and the Illinois Shakespeare Festival and recognize the importance of the arts to quality of life
c. effectively work with a team dedicated to diversity, equity, and inclusion - Strong interpersonal skills to interact with colleagues, company members, patrons, and donors in a professional manner.
- Experience with Datatel, Agresso, Budget Center, Payment Net, and the financial operations of Illinois State University.
- Experience with union contracts - Actors' Equity Association (AEA) United Scenic Artists (USA), Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers (SSDC) - and playwright/royalty contracts.
- Experience with University hiring policies and procedures.
- Knowledge with non-profit operating budgets and balance sheets.
- Experience with social media management and familiarity with various social media, communications, and/or design platforms.
- Knowledge of and ability to adhere to University policies, departmental procedures, and State ethics.
Core Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Friday with occasional evenings or weekends during the ISF season
Functional ExpectationsMust be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score.
