Description
Esperanza Health Centers seeks an Associate Program Director and Site Medical Director for its Family Medicine Residency. This full-time position provides direction and leadership related to medical services at Esperanza Health Centers (EHC) and educational programming for the Rush Esperanza Family Medicine Residency Program, a Teaching Health Center GME designee dedicated to developing innovative community-based curriculum. As site Medical Director, they will set goals and objectives related to the site as related to Esperanza's strategic plan and will lead the clinical team, execute policies to promote excellent delivery of primary care, and work in tandem with and assists the Program Director (PD) in the organization, implementation, and supervision of the training program. This position allots 50% administrative time.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities of Site Medical Director: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions except for those that begin with the word "May.")
1. Collaborates with Health Center Managers and other EHC leadership to ensure successful site clinical operations as related to access, quality, patient experience, and provider experience.
2. Maintains compliance with EHC's policies, procedures, and guidelines to assure high quality care in accordance with HRSA, FTCA, Managed Care, PCMH, Meaningful Use, and other applicable standards.
3. Identifies quality, safety, and risk management issues related to clinical care and communicates these to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO)..
4. Participates in the preparation of annual budget in conjunction with the Health Center Manager, the CMO, and members of the Finance Department.
5. Identifies scheduling needs and coordinates space, time, personnel, and equipment resources in conjunction with site Health Center Manager.
6. Accounts for individual providers' job responsibilities offsite, such as inpatient responsibilities and hours at other clinical sites.
7. Monitors schedules and caseloads of clinical providers and communicates staffing needs to the CMO. Addresses potential or ongoing concerns with encounter productivity.
8. Recruits, screens, and recommends providers for employment at EHC. Performs onboarding, orientation, and mentorship for new clinical providers.

9. In conjunction with the PD, oversees and ensures the quality of didactic and clinical education in the sites that participate in the program.
10. Participates in the evaluation of the program residents and faculty and decisions related to their continued participation in the training program.
11. Is familiar with the ACGME and Review Committee policies and procedures to assist in the preparation and submission of all information required and requested by the ACGME, participates in annual surveys and works continuously to adhere to requirements, and submits program application forms and annual program updates to the ADS.
12. Supervises residents in the clinical setting (may include inpatient medicine, Labor & Delivery, and outpatient clinic settings).
13. Serves as an advisor to 2-4 residents and oversees one or more core curriculum areas (as assigned by the PD).
14. Provides regular, fair, and useful summative and formative evaluation of residents and reports on their progress.
15. Serves as a member of program, Rush University, Rush Medical College, or other identified professional committees that advance the needs of the program.'
16. Attend Rush University Department of Family Medicine meetings
Clinical Practice: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions except for those that begin with the word "May.")
- Manages ambulatory Family Medicine primary care medical practice by eliciting patient histories, performing physical examinations, providing accurate clinical diagnoses, providing patient education, and prescribing evidence-based and cost-effective treatments in a team-based model.
- Adheres to Esperanza Health Center's Productivity Standard for Physicians of an average of at least 2.7 patient visits per hour of ambulatory time worked.
- Makes appropriate diagnoses and prescribes appropriate prescriptions and referrals consistent with Esperanza Health Center's medical practice guidelines.
- Builds and maintains a Family Medicine medical practice with follow-up of return appointments, referrals, and other methods that assure continuity of care.
- Maintains clinical competency through regular Continuing Medical Education and provides documentation.
- Maintains liaison with any partner hospitals' medical staff and ambulatory care departments through obtaining and maintaining hospital privileges, attendance at department and section meetings, and attending physician teaching duties.
Requirements
Requirements:
1. Board certified in Family Medicine by the ABFM or AOBFP
2. Eligibility for an unrestricted medical license in the state of Illinois
3. Two years of teaching experience preferably in resident education
The strongly preferred candidate will have the following qualifications:
1. Spanish language proficiency
2. Residency or medical school leadership experience
3. Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, evaluation methodology, teaching and mentoring residents.
4. Additional master's level degree or equivalent experience preferred in public health management, administration, or related field.
