Location: Field Area includes anywhere in the US. Field work time is 2 weeks at a time after which data collection & analysis is done remotely at the employees base.
Pay Rate: Minimum: $61,667 yearly
Maximum: $86,333 yearly
Experience: 2 + years of continuous work experience.

The primary focus of this position will be planning and supervising field efforts in support of consulting engagements. This includes but is not limited to overnight travel to fielding locations, supervision and training of interviewers, surveyors, and subcontracted staff, and troubleshooting equipment used for research data collection. This role performs a wide range of analytical tasks to manage intermediate-sized projects and manages junior staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participates in, leads, or supervises a variety of field-based work and data collection activities (e.g. note taking, transcribing, and interviews)
- Coordinate with clients and subcontractors to plan fieldwork efforts on transit, airports, and other intercept locations.
- Train, troubleshoot, and assist field staff with the usage of tech equipment, including operating tablets used for data collection, survey software, wired and wireless internet, and basic hardware and software.
- Works independently and as part of project teams supporting a variety of projects
- Manages small projects or parts of larger projects with an increasing amount of responsibility
- Working with project managers to design and develop components of research that are aligned with standard protocols, project goals, and client needs.
- Organizes data using appropriate tools (e.g. R, Python, SQL, Excel, SPSS)
- Performs a wide range of analytical tasks, including data handling and analysis
- Prepares and participates in client meetings and may present elements of reports to clients
- Manages relationships with vendors and partners for specific projects.
- Provides mentorship to junior staff on expected data collection, data handling, and analysis methods
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education
- *MUST* have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in transportation, market research, statistics, math, economics, psychology, geography, engineering, or a similarly relevant field of study
Required Experience
- 2 + years of professional experience, prior experience with research method
Preferred Experience:
- 2 years of experience in a supervisory role, managing 5 or more people
- Prior surveying experience, especially with tablet and paper surveys
- Understanding of, and previous experience with, social science methodology and concepts
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Resourceful, quick on their feet, and a “can-do” attitude for solving logistical problems quickly
- Does not mind uncertainty and considers unknown situations as fun challenges.
- Not afraid to go “off-the-beaten path” and surveying on transit (bus, trains, light rail), airports, and other locations in large and smaller cities.
- Not bothered by periods of intensive domestic travel throughout the US during fielding times (especially spring and fall) with overnight travel (about 15-25% travel).
- During fielding periods, not bothered by non-standard working hours (early AMs or late PMs), occasionally on weekends.

- Ability to organize, lead, and/or supervise fieldwork
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Requires travel of two weeks at a time throughout the US
- Frequently involves standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, or computer printer.
- Frequently communicates with colleagues and clients. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
