Summary:

The Field Service Technician II – Solar/BESS will safely conduct and oversee all field duties and functions, needed to support the operation of multiple utility scale renewable energy facilities. Responsibilities include corrective and preventative maintenance of onsite equipment, system testing, diagnosis, troubleshooting, spare part management and component replacement. Additional duties may include monitoring the quality and safety of 3rd party contractors performing additional work required on-site, safety and quality walks, reporting, emergency call out, and any additional tasks required for facility support.   

Requirements:   

  • Works independently, or collectively as part of a team, to ensure all tasks are correctly prioritized, conducted and delivered in a safe and timely manner at the highest quality.
  • Assist the Team with on call 24/7 first responder, to all alarms and system non-performance as needed.
  • Takes direction, identifies problems, develops solutions, completes installations and conducts analysis, independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Ability to learn and/or understand electrical testing and diagnostic equipment for both AC and DC.
  • Participates, leads and assists with Lock Out, Tag Out (LOTO).
  • Accurately completes and submits daily required paperwork. 
  • Leads and assists the team with troubleshooting and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment or components, including both AC and DC problems. This may include, inverters, trackers, power conversion systems (PCS), battery modules, wiring, sensors, modules, networks, switches, arrays etc. in a utility scale solar and/or battery facility.
  • Coordinates the replacement of components for electrical equipment in utility scale PV and BESS Renewable Energy projects.
  • Interfaces with Subcontractors, Owners and others in a professional manner.
  • Follows company NERC compliance program as required.
  • Learns and uses CMMS, SCADA and other systems, for maintenance tracking and system control.
  • Ensures building & ground maintenance as required.
  • Keeps and tracks facility tool and parts inventory.
  • Keeps and maintains site equipment.
  • Uses material and equipment properly.
  • Assist with orders for replacement supplies as needed.
  • Ensures project work complies and meets contractual requirements.
  • Works in remote field conditions under all weather conditions with limited supervision.
  • Operates company vehicles and equipment, both on and off site in varying conditions, in accordance with all laws and RES policy.
  • Available for 24-hour on-call duty, to meet contractual requirements as required.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
  • Adheres to the RES’s safety program.
  • Reports potentially unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Leads site safety meetings as required and performs site inductions.
  • Participates and assists with JSA, method statements and SOP’s
  • Writes JSA’s, work from procedures, and work instructions. 
  • Any other duties as assigned by manager.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Presents, supports, and leads by example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • High school/GED General education required
  • Bachelor Degree related field preferred.
  • 3+ years related facility maintenance position required.
  • Basic knowledge in:
    • Communication
      • Internal with Engineering, site teams, corporate office, supervisor 
      • Externally with Sub-contractors, Owners and vendors
      • Listening skills 
    • Relationship building 
    • Safe working practices
    • MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
    • Time management to include:
      • Setting and achieving work goals and deadlines 
      • Understanding and setting priorities      
    • Accurate and thorough in all tasks

    • Adhering to Rules and Regulations 
  • Intermediate knowledge in:
    • Reading

    • Electrical schematics and prints
    • Use of Electrical Meters, Hand and Power Tools
    • BESS and/or Solar Concepts and Principles
    • Inspecting Physical Objects
    • Forklift Operation 
    • Heavy Equipment
    • Cranes, Rigging and Lifting
    • Stress Management
  • Possesses the ability and dexterity to safely and efficiently use electrical tools, hand tools, and various required machinery.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Available to travel to other sites on short notice.
  • Domestic and International travel 16-30% required.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

 

Anticipated base salary range:  $25 - $35 per hour

 

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
