- Work with engineering leadership to architect elegant firmware solutions that are both scalable and future-proof across our charging product suite.
- Write and maintain firmware requirement specifications throughout all product development stages.
- Drive development of new, maintainable source code for functionalities, enhancements, bug-fixes, or from-scratch projects.
- Drive the design, review, and release process of source code.
- Collaborate with test engineering to write procedures for regular regression and release testing of source code.
- Obtain/maintain a working knowledge of the major EV communication protocols and relevant software safety standards for charging products.
- Work with the hardware team to identify hardware that fit.
- Support other firmware engineers in design, implementation, testing and debugging of firmware.
- At least 5 yrs experience in Embedded Linux development.
- At least 4 yrs Python (or other higher-level language).
- At least 2-3 ?yrs experience in bare metal or OS kernel C or C++ on 32-bit or 64-bit architectures (ARM preferred).
- Experience with firmware update concepts and bootloader development.
- Knowledge and practical experience in all firmware development lifecycle phases.
- Working knowledge of CAN and MODBUS protocols.
- TCP / IP / IOT/ MQTT / LTE M.2 implementation experience
- u-boot (or other bootloader), yocto (or other embedded linux distro)
- Automated testing experience (unit testing, integration testing, test-driven development, etc.).
- Unit testing and continuous Integration experience.
- Distributed source code management system experience (git, mercurial, bazaar, darcs, etc.)
- Ability to read PCB schematics. Basic level understanding of PCB layout?
- Can operate benchtop test equipment (programmable power supplies, function generators, oscilloscope)
- At least 1-2 years of experience developing firmware for EV charging products.
- At least 1-2 years in E-mobility (BESS, BMS development, EV development)
- RTOS Development experience.
