The Field Engineer Intern will be assigned to a specific Greenfield (new construction) project for the duration of the internship . The Intern is expected to be site assigned and the assignment shall last for a duration of not less than 10 weeks . The Intern will support detailed engineering, scope of work development & procurement, and onsite construction. The I ntern will take direction from the SVP, Chief Engineering, Lead Project Engineer , and the Site Manager . The Intern will interface with management, operations, engineering, project team and key vendors and contractors.
Responsibilities
- Aligning with our culture in operating safely and in a safe workplace, ensure that all work, in and out of projects, and both external and internal project resources are adhering to a safe work practices and supporting a safe workplace.
- Support engineering and procurement with development of scopes of work, evaluation of bid packages and management of key vendors and site contractors
- Review engineering drawings and deliverables to ensure they meet specifications and quality requirements.
- Work closely with project controls, procurement, cost estimating, admin, and document control to support project delivery efforts.
- Support the project with management of the project action register, lessons learned implementation, and design change management.
- Support creation and coordination of overall project plans and schedules, and monitor activities, progress, and milestones against the plan.
- Support the request for information (RFI) process between our contractors, vendors and engineering contractor.
- Assist in develop of daily, weekly and monthly reports.
- Support onsite quality control with in-process inspections of construction activities
- Assist in coordination and oversight of construction activities
Required Qualifications
- Current (Junior or Senior) pursing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Civil) or Construction Science
- Possess strong organizational skills & sense of responsibility.
- Driver of action.
- Effective oral, presentation, and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint with the ability to learn other applications as required
- Eagerness to learn
Preferred Qualifications - What Will Set You Apart
- Work experience in a related field is preferred.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Navisworks 3D model viewer
Travel requirements
- Site deployed role to project site in Epes , AL
Working Conditions
- Active construction site requires full time PPE including hard hat, steel toe boots, gloves and safety glasses.
Physical Requirements
- This position requires physical requirements such as ability to walk on uneven surfaces, climb stairs/ladders to inspect installations, etc..
